Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 30

"No," Stella replied. "I've had my own independent paperwork and identification for years. Frederick has no idea."

The next morning, at exactly ten o'clock, they arrived at City Hall and officially signed their marriage licenses.

The process was shockingly smooth—no lines, no waiting. Though, seeing the impossibly handsome Julius in a wheelchair did earn them a few pitying glances from the administrative staff.

Sitting in the back of the luxury SUV on the ride home, Stella stared at the official documents in her hands, feeling slightly surreal. She was actually a married woman now.

*Whatever,* she shrugged internally. *I'm not losing anything.*

They had signed an airtight pre-nuptial agreement before leaving the house. In exactly one year, she would be walking away as one of the richest women in the country. Total profit.

Pulling out her phone, she snapped two pictures of the documents—one closed, one open.

Seeing her take the photos, Julius assumed she was preparing to post an announcement. That reminded him—he didn't even have her number.

He pulled out his own phone. "Let's add each other's contacts and social media. It's ridiculous for a married couple to not even have a way to text."

Stella didn't care. She opened her profile code and let him scan it.

Once connected, Julius tapped on her social media feed, curious to see what her life was like.

A blank screen loaded. A small gray text box read: *Profile is private. Only recent posts visible.* There wasn't a single photo or update.
