A faint smile touched Nadine's lips.

She knew it. Byron wouldn't come out of the woodwork without an ulterior motive.

She remained silent, waiting for him to continue.

Since he was the one showing up uninvited and bringing it up, he had no choice but to keep talking.

Byron coughed slightly to ease the awkwardness. Why wasn't she taking the bait?
