"I didn't actually think that, I was just joking with you." Stella quickly smoothed things over so he wouldn't get upset.
"Then tell me how you managed to pull a fast one on them, and I'll forgive you. Otherwise, you're not getting any sleep tonight," Julius said with a wicked grin.
He had been keeping a close eye on both those shady guys and Stella, worried they might try something. Yet he honestly hadn't caught the moment she made her move.
"Right as we were leaving, I walked up behind them and dusted them with a little powder. That's all it took to make them act like that."
Julius pulled her into his arms. "My wife is quite the operative, slipping people drugs without making a sound. How exactly did you apply it?"
"Is it that hard? I had the powder right in my hand. I just gave it a tiny flick in their direction."
A tiny flick?
She made it sound so effortless.
The crowd leaving the venue had been massive, and the powder would have been practically weightless. To accurately flick a minuscule amount onto those four specific men in a moving crowd was incredibly difficult!
And then there was that roar of hers in the stands. No one without true inner strength could project their voice like that.
"Stella, do you practice ancient martial arts?"
Stella gave him a mischievous smile. "If I told you I knew Ethereal Movement, shadow kicks, gravity-defying leaps, and could walk on walls... would you believe me?"
Julius tapped her nose. "I believe whatever you tell me."
Stella let out a soft laugh. "You really believe that? I was just kidding. But having a bit of inner strength is true. I'm just a little faster and more agile than the average person, that's all."
Julius smiled back, believing only about half of that understatement.
His young wife could fight, she could roast people flawlessly, and she could poison targets without leaving a trace.
Not only that, she was a brilliant medic, possessed incredible physical skills, and was a master at riding dirt bikes.
"Where did you hear about that?" This wasn't information just anyone could get. He had only found out about it a couple of days ago himself.
"I have my own exclusive sources. No comment."
Julius affectionately ruffled her hair. "Go to sleep. Didn't you say you were really looking forward to tomorrow's freestyle combat?" If she didn't want to tell him, that was fine. Everyone had their secrets.
But she already knew most of his, while it seemed she still had quite a few of her own.
The next day.
The two arrived at the sports center just in time for the matches to begin.
Today's schedule featured the remaining choreographed forms from yesterday, followed by the highly anticipated freestyle combat.
Julius had hacked into the venue's security cameras using his phone. After running a quick facial recognition sweep, he confirmed that the four guys from yesterday hadn't shown up. They were probably still locked up or lying in a hospital bed.
