“We've already signed the marriage license, and once we pick the perfect date, we'll host a wedding. I hope you'll all join us to celebrate."
Applause and choruses of congratulations rippled through the crowd.
In reality, many people had already figured it out while Julius was introducing Stella around earlier, so the formal announcement wasn't exactly breaking news.
Sheridan Jennings slowly sipped his drink, unable to put his finger on what he was feeling. A faint sense of disappointment? Or maybe not.
Three years ago, Stella had saved his sister's life. He had always viewed her as a child—a little sister since she wasn't even of age yet.
He had originally planned to wait until she was a bit older to pursue her, but Julius had beaten him to the punch.
It seemed that when you liked something, waiting was the worst strategy. While he waited, she had become someone else's.
Still, he didn't feel an agonizing sense of loss.
Since she and Julius were married, he would simply wish them well.
He walked over with his glass and offered a sincere smile. "Congratulations to both of you. Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness."
Stella was quite familiar with Sheridan. She had visited the Jennings family several times and thought of him as an older brother.
She took a fresh glass from a passing waiter, clinked it against his, and smiled. "Thanks, Sheridan."
She brought the glass to her lips but only pretended to take a tiny sip without swallowing.
At the same time, she subtly scanned the crowd.
When she spotted Yvonne hiding in a corner, she suppressed a laugh.
Only a brainless woman like Yvonne would resort to such cheap, low-level tricks.
Going up against her, Yvonne didn't stand a chance.
Still, she was genuinely curious to see what kind of pathetic scheme the girl had cooked up.
Cecilia pulled her along. "Come on, let's go float some lanterns."
Even though there wasn't a river, they could float the wishing lanterns in the massive pool and make a wish.
She was going to wish for a beautiful romance just like Stella's.
Sylvie grabbed Stella's hand too. "Stella, come make a wish with us."
Stella naturally had to go, otherwise Yvonne would be terribly disappointed.
Pretending to be completely oblivious, she also pulled Sabrina along toward the pool area.
However, she purposefully made her steps look unsteady and wobbly.
Seeing that Stella had taken the bait, Yvonne smirked and followed them.
