Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 384

Julius shoved him away hard. "Get lost!"

The man stumbled back, barely keeping his balance. Clutching his throbbing wrist, he glared and spat out a threat. "You'll pay for this!" He then scrambled away in a total panic.

Julius turned back to Stella, his tone tight with displeasure. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Are you mad?"

"No."

"Come on, don't be mad. See? I'm perfectly fine." She teased. He said he wasn't mad, but his face was completely dark.

"Next time a guy like that approaches you, don't even talk to him." He had only stepped away to stand in a line, and already someone was trying to hit on his wife.

"I know, I know. Where's the coffee?" Stella asked, tugging at his hand.

"I didn't get it. I saw him trying to touch you and came straight over." With his wife getting harassed, the last thing on his mind was coffee.

"Alright then, we'll skip the coffee. Let's head back."

"I can go line up again." He still wanted to get her the drink she had been craving.

"Don't worry about it. It's too crowded, and we'd be waiting forever. Let's just go." She had lost her patience for it.

"Wait here. I can get it without waiting in line." He turned and strode purposefully toward the very front of the queue.

Stella watched him, wondering if he was actually going to cut the line. The crowd would absolutely tear him apart if he tried that!

She was about to go pull him back when she heard Julius speak to the person at the front who had just received their order. "Will you sell me your coffee? I'll pay you ten times what it cost."

He pulled out several of the highest-denomination bills in the local currency and held them out.

The customer, a young guy in glasses who looked like a tourist, beamed. "Yeah, absolutely! Here you go."

Julius took the cup and handed over the stack of cash.

They wandered around a bit more, but Stella eventually grew tired of the heat and suggested taking a cab back to the hotel.

"I thought you were going to show me a fun place tonight. Why are we heading back?" Julius asked, visibly confused.

He assumed they were heading straight to their destination after leaving the food street.

"It's way too early. The time isn't right yet. We'll go later."

Port City's nightlife hadn't even started. It wouldn't be any fun right now, and there was zero chance they'd run into "Nina."

"Alright, you're the boss."

Since she knew the area, he was more than happy to follow her lead. Wherever she wanted to go, he'd be right there beside her.

They relaxed at the hotel until nine o'clock, when Stella finally led Julius back out.

"Stella, where exactly are we going?"
