Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 397

Two days later.

Drake called Stella with an update. "Nina cleared her schedule for tonight. Be at the usual spot at 9 PM."

"Understood. See you tonight."

The couple hadn't had much to do over the past two days, mostly just sleeping in and relaxing at the hotel—or at least, Stella had.

Julius had remained quite busy, handling his corporate empire remotely.

"Julius, why don't I just go by myself? You can stay here and finish your work." Seeing how swamped he was, she felt guilty dragging him along into the underground.

"Absolutely not. I am not letting you walk into that place alone."

Julius snapped his laptop shut with finality. "Let's go. I'm done for the day."

"Alright."

They arrived at the casino ten minutes before nine and found Drake waiting for them near the entrance.

"You made it."

"Right on time. Let's head in."

When the three of them entered the opulent VIP room, Nina was already seated at the felt.

Drake offered a charming smile. "Nina, looking as gorgeous as ever."

"Flattery won't save you, Drake. So, this is the ringer you brought?" Nina's eyes flicked to the couple. Assuming the imposing man was the challenger, she completely disregarded Stella.

Drake chuckled. "Sure is. But she's the ringer. She's leagues above me. Play a few hands with her—I guarantee she won't disappoint."

"Why wouldn't I? Here's my buy-in. Fifty million. If I lose, it's on me. My husband has deep pockets. The real question is whether you can afford to lose, Nina."

For someone in Nina's position, acting as the house dealer, losing a massive sum of money would look incredibly suspicious. The casino's backers would assume she was colluding with an outsider to drain the vault and would have her head.

"Big words for a little girl. Alright. Since you're so eager to throw away cash, I'll back my own play tonight. Any money you take, you take from my personal accounts.

"If you win, you walk out of here with the cash, and I guarantee nobody lays a finger on you. But making money isn't easy for your man. Are you absolutely sure you want to throw it away against me?"

It had been a long time since anyone had dared disrespect Nina at her own table. To be mocked by a brat barely out of her teens? If she didn't drain this girl's accounts to the last cent, her reputation would be entirely ruined.

It was just a shame such a prime specimen of a man had been locked down by this arrogant brat.

"Men make money just to spoil the women they love. Don't worry about it, Nina. My husband is more than happy to let me spend it."

Fifty million chips might be an astronomical fortune to anyone else, but to Julius, it was pocket change.
