Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 398

She hadn't actually planned on using Julius's money to buy her chips, but seeing how protective he was getting, she decided to just let him bankroll her to keep him happy.

Drake shot Julius a sidelong glance, silently astounded by just how wealthy this guy really was.

More importantly, the man was completely willing to burn it all for his wife.

Nina sneered. "If you insist. I just hope you don't burst into tears when I take it all. And don't worry, if by some miracle I lose, I honor my debts."

You can't save someone who's hell-bent on jumping off a cliff.

"I know you're a woman of your word. But if I win, I don't want your money. I just want you to grant me one favor," Stella countered smoothly, springing the trap now that Nina was firmly committed.

"Depends on the favor. If you want me to do something that'll get me killed or arrested, you can forget it." She wasn't about to get outplayed by some kid's fine print.

Stella laughed lightly. "Nothing like that. I just want some information. It won't put you in any danger."

"Fine. You have a deal." It would only take a few hands to absolutely humiliate the girl anyway.

Stella leaned back in her chair. "Let's begin. You pick the game, Nina. I'm not picky."

"Dice it is, then. Let's keep it simple." She didn't want to use overly complex games and have people claim she was bullying an amateur.

Drake secretly shook his head. He didn't want to underestimate Nina, but after what he'd seen, Nina was walking into a slaughter.

"Sounds perfect. You go first, Nina. Let me marvel at your legendary skills."

When it came to shaking dice, Stella wasn't bragging—she could literally win with her eyes closed.

"Sure. Lowest points wins." Nina grabbed the leather cup from the felt and began to shake it violently.

A few seconds later, she slammed the cup down onto the table. When she lifted it, all six dice were stacked in a flawless vertical line.

Nina had rolled a perfect tower. Six dice balanced on top of each other, all showing a single pip facing up.

"Star, the best you can do is tie her," Drake murmured. He knew she could roll a perfect tower too; he had seen her do it.

"Is that so? Then watch closely, Drake. Don't blink."

On the table sat a perfect tower of five dice. Beside the tower lay a pile of fine white dust—the sixth die, completely pulverized.

Stella blinked innocently. "Looks like I'm one point lower than you, Nina. Thanks for going easy on me."

Nina stared at the dust, her mind short-circuiting. *That was possible?!*

Who the hell was this girl?

What kind of monstrous technique was that?

To shatter a single die inside a cup of six was virtually impossible. Usually, you either pulverized all of them or none at all.

Not only had Stella isolated and destroyed one, but she had ground it down to absolute powder.

"H-how... how did you do that?"

Nina never in her wildest nightmares imagined she'd be stammering in front of a twenty-something girl.
