To see his family before he died, with everyone gathered around him, meant he had no regrets.
As for his eldest daughter and her husband, who had dedicated their entire lives to national scientific research, missing them was fine. They were engaged in a great and glorious cause.
Stella tilted her head back, trying to force her tears away, but they only fell faster.
She held her grandfather's hand, unable to hold back her cries. "Grandpa, Little Star can save you. Do you believe me?"
"Of course I do. My Little Star is an angel who always appears when I need her. But this time... I'm afraid you can't help me."
The old man shifted his gaze to Jason. "And Jason, make sure you help your brother more, and settle down soon..."
Already severely weakened by illness, the effort of speaking left him utterly exhausted, and he slipped into unconsciousness.
"Grandpa!"
"Dad!"
"Wilfred..."
Everyone thought Wilfred had passed away, and the hospital room instantly filled with heartbroken sobs.
Stella pulled her acupuncture kit from her backpack, preparing to insert needles.
Vincent stopped her. "Stella, let him go peacefully. Don't put him through any more." The doctor had said his father wouldn't make it.
Jason also intervened. "Stella, don't." He didn't know she had medical skills, assuming she was just messing around with some rural holistic remedies she had picked up.
Grandma Fidelia added, "Stella, I know he believed in you, and I know how much you love him. But he's gone. Let him rest in peace."
Aside from Julius, no one in the room knew she was a skilled doctor. She understood why the Vaughn family doubted her.
Stella looked at Julius.
Timothy and Jason were left speechless, their jaws practically on the floor.
Only Julius remained calm. He knew her medical skills were extraordinary, but he hadn't expected her to literally bring someone back from the brink of death.
Grandma Fidelia reached out with trembling hands to touch her husband.
"Grandma, don't move him," Stella warned. "He needs to stay perfectly still."
Fidelia quickly pulled her hand back, not daring to move.
Stella then retrieved a small vial from her backpack, shook out a pill, and turned to Julius. "Get me a glass of warm water."
Before Julius could move, Timothy quickly fetched the water.
Stella placed the pill in her grandfather's mouth and helped him sip some water before saying softly, "Don't be afraid, Grandpa. Little Star is going to save you."
