Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 412

He had merely gone into shock, though everyone assumed he had died.

She had checked his pulse earlier and knew the doctor was right—his condition was incredibly severe. The doctor hadn't been wrong to say he wouldn't make it.

But with her medical expertise, snatching someone back from the grim reaper wasn't impossible.

After making sure he swallowed the pill, Stella watched the clock and removed the needles at the right time.

Wilfred was already looking better, his body visibly relaxing.

"I don't feel as much pain," he murmured.

Stella packed away her needles and held his hand. "Grandpa, you need to rest now. Once you've recovered your strength, I'll start the next phase of your treatment. Don't worry, I'm going to cure you."

"Alright, I'll listen to my Little Star."

He had truly felt like he was dying, but after taking her medicine, the agonizing pain had faded significantly. Maybe she really could cure him.

No one wanted to die if they had the choice to live, especially since he hadn't even seen her future children yet!

Stella administered one more needle to help him sleep.

She turned to Vincent. "Uncle Vincent, he's out of danger for tonight. Let him rest properly; the pain has kept him from getting any real sleep. We only need one person to stay and watch him.

"The rest of you should head home, especially Grandma. She's too old to be staying up all night. Also, I need to speak with Grandpa's attending physician."

Vincent's word was law in the Vaughn family, and Stella knew speaking to him was the most effective approach. Once she fully understood the progression of the illness, she would formulate a proper treatment plan.

Her son's words were like a royal decree, brooking no argument. If he said it, he had thoroughly thought it through.

After everyone left, Vincent called out, "Julius, Stella, wait a moment."

With the crowd gone, there were questions he needed to ask. Even if he hadn't spoken up, Stella wouldn't have left immediately; she had things to discuss with him too.

Vincent was direct. "Stella, I didn't expect you to have the ability to bring the dead back to life. Who taught you medicine?"

"Uncle Vincent, Grandpa wasn't dead. He just went into shock." She wasn't a god; she couldn't actually resurrect the dead.

"Then who taught you medicine?" he repeated.

Vincent naturally had a stern face. Accustomed to giving orders, his commanding aura as a leader was impossible to hide. Anyone else would have been trembling in fear.
