Back at Shirley & Co. Jewelers and Sylvie's birthday party, it had been Rhoda egging her on to target Stella.
She had foolishly taken the bait and let herself be used as a weapon.
Una was absolutely certain that if she ever offended Stella again, her fate would be far worse than Rhoda's.
Plus, after watching the savage way Stella had beaten Mr. Warren, who could ever bully her? The fact that she didn't terrorize everyone else was a blessing.
Stella's innocent, delicate appearance was a complete lie!
A total scam!
Una couldn't believe she had once been blind enough to think Stella was just some helpless nobody who was easy to pick on.
Thank God Stella hadn't decided to end her life back then, otherwise she wouldn't even know what hit her!
"Mr. Blackwood, you have to believe me. I really didn't bully your wife."
"Stella, tell me. Did she give you trouble?" Julius didn't care for Una's side of the story; he only trusted his wife.
Stella shook her head. "No, she didn't do anything to me."
Julius then pointed at the bruised and battered Mr. Warren, who was slumped in a chair. "Then did he bully you?"
He highly doubted it. Mr. Warren had clearly been beaten up, and his wife was an absolute powerhouse.
"With that weak, out-of-shape body? How could he possibly bully me?"
Mr. Warren silently lowered his head, too terrified to speak.
How was she Julius Blackwood's woman?
He had literally been plotting to hire thugs to go after her the minute he got out of here.
"...Then what happened to his face?"
Stella blinked her big eyes and said with perfect innocence, "I hit him."
Julius pinched the bridge of his nose. *Of course. I knew it.*
Still, he knew she never attacked people without reason. If she hit him, the guy absolutely deserved it.
Besides, he'd much rather she be the one throwing the punches than taking them.
"If you hit him, you hit him. He had it coming. We'll just pay the medical bills."
"Next time you want to hit someone, make sure you use a weapon so you don't bruise your knuckles. Remember? The spatula worked beautifully last time."
Shortly after Julius left, Vernon arrived to bail Una out.
Una had been too terrified to call her father, so she had begged her brother to come rescue her.
Mr. Warren was the last to leave.
Though he had been beaten into a pulp, after seeing that it was Julius Blackwood who came to pick up the gorgeous girl, he lost all courage to press charges.
He would just have to swallow his pride and chalk it up to spectacularly bad luck.
...
The next day.
The Lowell residence.
Una spoke with utmost sincerity. "Mom, Dad, Vernon... please take me to apologize to Julius's wife. I want to formally apologize to her."
Marcus Lowell gave his headache-inducing daughter a long look. Hadn't she been fiercely stubborn about refusing to apologize before? Why was she suddenly begging to do it now?
He knew she hadn't been doing well at work recently. She had been throwing her heiress tantrums left and right, even offending a few of his old business partners. It had driven him up the wall.
