Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 432

Jenson nodded. "I like the sound of that. I'm in. What do you guys think?"

Diven agreed. "Might as well. Going back to our rooms is boring anyway. I'm down."

The others chimed in with their agreement. They had come down to the second floor to kill time and drink, and having a gorgeous woman join them made it infinitely better.

"Since we're all on board, it's settled."

Jenson snapped his fingers, and a waiter immediately hurried over. "Sir, how can I help you?"

"Bring us a deck of Poker cards."

"Right away, sir."

In less than two minutes, the waiter returned with a fresh deck of cards.

Jenson opened the box, pulled out the cards numbered one through eight, and tossed the rest aside.

Looking at the eight cards on the table, Jenson sighed. "Ms. Todd, this hardly seems like a challenge."

Only eight cards? For seasoned gamblers like them, picking the exact card they needed out of eight was something they could do in their sleep.

They could manipulate a full deck effortlessly; eight cards was child's play.

Stella had anticipated this. "You're right, there's no real challenge here, but we're just playing for fun.

It's not tomorrow's main event, so let's not take it too seriously. How about we put the cards in a raffle box?

That way, no one can see. We shake it up, and whoever's number gets drawn takes a shot. Sound good?"

One of the men nodded approvingly. "Perfect. I'm down for that. Let's just have a good time."

The others quickly agreed.

They were here to drink anyway; it was all just entertainment.

Another man chimed in, his words tumbling together. "I know... that old guy... Todd something... Dewey! Yeah, Dewey Todd. He stirred up massive trouble over there... heard someone put a hit out on him."

The man was heavily intoxicated, his tongue heavy and his speech slurred.

"What kind of trouble did he cause? Who wanted him dead?"

Stella pressed urgently. People told the truth when they were drunk, and she desperately needed him to elaborate.

But no more words came. The man slumped forward, passed out cold on the table.

Stella memorized his face. It didn't matter that he was out cold; at least she had finally found someone who knew about the past.

She could easily track him down tomorrow.

"Anyone else know about old man Todd? Come on, let's have another round."
