Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 459

The drinking didn't stop until past one in the morning.

Stella gathered a massive amount of intel from this single party.

She learned that Tiger was running something huge, sitting at the absolute top of the food chain, judging by the deep respect everyone showed him.

Her status naturally skyrocketed by association, and the others treated her with genuine deference.

She also learned that Lucian and Kane specifically ran the casino operations, which explained why they were at that high-stakes game in international waters.

Whether Tiger had purposely let her overhear this information or if it was an accident, she wasn't entirely sure.

If it was intentional, it meant he still didn't trust her, and tonight was just another elaborate loyalty test.

She had consumed an enormous amount of alcohol, and Tiger was equally wasted, stumbling left and right as they walked.

After the driver dropped them off at the villa, Stella helped him upstairs, seizing the opportunity to interrogate him before he passed out.

“Tiger, you're drunk.”

“I'm... not drunk. I can still... keep going.” His speech was heavily slurred, his tongue thick with alcohol.

“Okay, okay, you're not drunk. Let's get you to bed so you can rest.”

She steered him toward a door and asked, “Tiger, this door won't open. What's the passcode?”

It wasn't every day she caught him this obliterated. She couldn't waste the opportunity.

“It's... 0-2-4-6-8...”

Bingo. With the study passcode in hand, she punched in the numbers. The lock clicked green. She pulled the door ajar, took two steps inside with him, then abruptly stopped. “Oops. Wrong room, Tiger. This isn't the bedroom. It's over there.”

She shut the study door and guided him toward the actual bedroom.

It was a calculated move.

That way, if he somehow remembered any fragments of tonight when he woke up, she could just claim she was drunk too and stumbled into the wrong room.

Besides, they had only taken two steps inside before immediately backing out. She hadn't actually rummaged through anything, so even if he recalled the event perfectly, he couldn't punish her for it.

And honestly, considering how trashed he was, he probably wouldn't remember a thing anyway.
