Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 461

The Capital.

Jason Blackwood found it incredibly strange. His brother had been back from his business trip for three days, so why hadn't he shown up at the office yet?

At first, he figured the trip to South Africa had just been exhausting. After all, Julius had been gone for half a month, so Jason thought it best to let him rest for a couple of days.

But three days had passed. Sean Cahill had reported to work the very day after they returned, so what exactly was Julius doing?

Jason had been covering his brother's workload for over two weeks and desperately wanted his freedom back.

He called Sean into his office. "Be honest with me. Did something happen while you were in South Africa? Why hasn't he come to work?"

Sean looked troubled. "I really don't know. Maybe you should call him and ask?"

Things had indeed happened in South Africa, but the boss had given strict orders to keep quiet about it. He couldn't go against Julius's wishes.

"Are you sure you aren't hiding anything from me?"

"You're his brother. It's best if you just call him."

Sean was also worried. Had the boss told his wife about what happened abroad, leading to a massive fight?

Knowing Julius's work ethic, there was no other reason he'd skip work for three straight days.

"Fine, you can go. I'll give him a call and see what's going on."

Once Sean left, Jason dialed his brother's number.

"What is it, Jason?" Julius answered. He had just returned from the border and was utterly exhausted. He had been hoping to catch a quick nap when the phone rang.
