Jason immediately denied it. "Sabrina, don't talk nonsense. My brother and Stella are doing great. Why would they be fighting?"
Sabrina saw right through him. "You're lying. I can't get through to her phone, and she hasn't replied to any of my texts. Your brother definitely did something awful and pissed her off."
She viewed Stella like a little sister. If Julius had actually messed up, she was more than ready to let Stella crash at her place.
"No way. My brother would never do anything to hurt Stella. He loves her to death. He doesn't even raise his voice around her."
His brother had nearly died for her and had been fully prepared to storm into North Myanor himself just to find her.
If Jason hadn't talked him off the ledge and convinced him to seek Uncle Vincent's help, Julius would probably be dodging bullets in North Myanor right now.
"Then tell me, where is she? I haven't seen her in almost two months."
Sabrina still wasn't buying Jason's story. She couldn't reach Stella anywhere.
"Her grandfather got sick, so she went back to her hometown to take care of him. She'll be back after the holidays."
Jason had no choice but to recycle the same lie his brother had been using.
Sabrina reached across the table, tilting his chin up like a demanding interrogator. "Seriously?"
Jason gently pushed her hand away. "Seriously. Why would I lie to you?"
Sabrina glared fiercely. "Fine, I'll believe you for now. But if I find out you're lying, you are dead meat."
"I'm not lying. Hey, come back to the family estate with me for dinner tonight, please? My parents are back in town, and they want to meet you."
Jason didn't even flinch at her fierce expression; it was as if he was entirely used to it.
Sabrina immediately refused. "No way, Jason. We're fake dating. Why do I need to meet your parents? I already feel guilty enough putting on this act for your grandmother."
If they kept this up, the lines were going to get hopelessly blurred.
