"Understood. Thank you, Uncle Vincent. When the time comes, I want to join our tactical team. Please grant me clearance."
He needed to be part of the raid. He had to bring Stella home himself.
"Approved."
It wasn't a difficult request to grant. Given Julius's combat skills and his classified secondary background, slotting him into the operation was straightforward.
"Thank you."
Vincent paused, choosing his next words carefully. "Stella is a remarkable young woman. When she gets back, you need to treat her right. Don't you dare fail her."
With her trapped in such a vile place, he was genuinely worried his nephew might hold it against her if she lost her innocence, or that he might look at her differently.
"You don't have to worry about that, Uncle Vincent. Stella is brilliant. She's practically running the place over there. She hasn't suffered any abuse at all. They trust her completely and are treating her like royalty."
He knew exactly what his uncle was implying, but Stella had kept him fully briefed. He was just profoundly grateful that she was sharp enough to carve out her own survival.
A wave of immense relief washed over Vincent. "That's good. That's very good."
If that was the case, the girl truly was a force of nature.
Stella was a good kid, and he wanted nothing but the best for her.
...
North Myanor.
Three days after Doris's brutal punishment, Stella finally received word from Vincent's operatives.
To her absolute surprise, his men had integrated remarkably well, with one of them acting as an enforcer for Lucian Vance.
Today, she decided to check out the casino. Nobody had bothered her for the past few days as she wandered around.
She figured she’d stroll over to Lucian's territory and try her luck, having heard a rumor that a formidable high-roller had arrived and was cleaning the place out.
