After lighting the candles at the shrine, the family gathered for a celebratory dinner.
As soon as the meal was over, Jason enthusiastically announced his resignation.
"Julius, since your legs are at a hundred percent, I am officially done going to the Blackwood Group headquarters as of tomorrow. You're on your own! These past six months have practically killed me.
"I've already handed over everything to your superhero assistant. If you have any questions, just ask him."
He had been waiting for this day for far too long!
Nadine frowned in disapproval. "Your brother just recovered. Why are you so eager to run off instead of helping him share the workload?"
"Grandmother, I'm just not cut out for corporate life. You've seen it yourself! I've been doing a fantastic job running the hospitality division and the entertainment company, haven't I? Why force me to sit in that prison at headquarters?"
Nadine lightly swatted him on the arm. "It's called a job! What do you mean 'prison'? Stop talking nonsense!"
Jason whined, "It's true, Grandmother! You have no idea how terrifying Sean is. He schedules my days down to the minute. I don't even have time to date!"
Sean was the 'superhero assistant' Jason had mentioned.
Nadine shot back, "You never brought any girls home even before you became the acting CEO. Don't use your job as an excuse for being single."
Deep down, she still had one lingering worry. Her grandson's legs had healed, but the doctors had originally warned that his severe nerve damage might affect his ability to be intimate.
She wondered if that... specific area had recovered along with his legs.
When she had asked him how the crash happened, he claimed he had swerved into a tree, causing the car to flip and crush his legs.
But she had never truly believed that story!
Julius rarely stepped in to defend his younger brother, but this time he did. "Grandmother, if he doesn't want to go, let's not force him. I can handle the workload. Let him manage the divisions he actually enjoys."
Jason was highly capable; he just despised rigid, corporate environments. He was a free spirit who liked doing things his own way.
