Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 50

Heartbroken and furious, Sylvie got into a screaming match with him.

The broke boyfriend scoffed, "I only dated you because your family is rich and you could fund my startup. If you don't have a dime to your name and expect me to support you, where am I supposed to get the money?"

Devastated, Sylvie cried, "So you never liked me? You only liked my money? I fought with my parents for you!"

"Grow up. If you don't have any money, what use are you to me? Either crawl back to your parents and beg for forgiveness, or get out. Stop ruining my chances with other girls."

Sylvie had wandered the streets with her suitcase, crying her eyes out. Having nowhere else to go, she sat on a park bench for most of the day.

When night fell, a group of local thugs spotted her and started aggressively harassing her.

Just as things were escalating, Stella happened to walk by.

Stella beat the absolute hell out of the thugs, rescued Sylvie, and personally escorted her home.

They had been close friends ever since.

Sylvie had only been a high school freshman at the time. Looking back, she had no idea what kind of temporary brain damage made her fall for a guy like that.

Sylvie always viewed Stella as her savior, though she honestly didn't know much about her.

She only knew what Stella allowed her to know.

She knew Stella wasn't always in the city, that she was a terrifyingly good fighter, an incredible street racer, and had supposedly dropped out of school after middle school. To the untrained eye, Stella gave off major rebel vibes.

Aside from that, Sylvie was clueless.

But none of that mattered to their friendship.
