Sabrina immediately offered a game plan. "Here's what we'll do. Come stay at my place for a few days so you can clear your head. Once Julius realizes you've moved out, he'll panic and come looking for you. When he does, force him to put all his cards on the table. Listen to his side of the story before you make any permanent decisions, okay?"
It was never wise to make life-altering choices in the heat of anger. Rash decisions almost always ended in regret.
Revenge taken impulsively usually backfired.
"Okay. I'll be intruding on you for a few days, then."
With her emotions in a tangled mess and no better alternatives, Stella agreed to follow her friend's advice.
"It's not an intrusion at all! I live alone; I'll be thrilled to have the company. Come on, let's swing by your place to pack a bag, and then we'll head to my apartment."
Sabrina usually only stayed with her parents on weekends; during the workweek, she had her own place.
"Alright."
Sabrina accompanied her back to the Imperial Gardens to pack a few essentials, then brought her straight to her apartment.
"Sabrina, please don't tell Jason I'm staying here. He'll instantly report back to Julius, and I don't want him finding me yet."
"My lips are sealed. Stay as long as you need."
"Thank you."
...
At the hospital.
Julius stared grimly at the ultrasound report in his hands, a storm of frustration brewing in his chest.
When Faye Langley had shown up with a pregnancy test yesterday, he assumed she had faked it to manipulate him.
Today, he had personally dragged her to the hospital for an official ultrasound. The results proved she was genuinely pregnant.
If Stella found out this child existed, she would divorce him without a second thought.
The situation was rapidly spiraling out of his control.
