Stella agreed, "I'll go with you tonight, but you have to be the one to tell your grandmother about the divorce."
His grandmother had indeed been incredibly kind to her, and Stella simply couldn't bring herself to break the news.
Since Julius was the one who made the mistake, he needed to be the one to face his family.
"I'm not saying it. Grandmother wouldn't be able to handle the shock. Stella, I don't want a divorce."
"You made the mistake; who else is going to say it? If you don't tell her tonight, I'm not going with you."
Julius remained stubbornly silent, staring at the floor.
He just needed to stall.
Seeing his silence, Stella grew annoyed. "Why don't we just go to the estate right now? If you don't have the guts, I'll tell her myself."
"We're not going. I don't have time right now, I need to head to the office. We're not going back for dinner tonight either; I have a business engagement."
He absolutely refused to listen to her talk about divorce. He'd stall indefinitely, even if it meant skipping out on seeing his family.
Stella saw right through him. This bastard was just avoiding the issue, making up whatever excuses he could.
She thought back to her restless late-night revelations and said, "Julius, sit down. We need to talk."
Julius obediently sat on the sofa. He didn't dare sit too close, terrified he'd set her off or that she'd immediately deliver his death sentence.
"Julius, are you really not going to divorce me?"
He shook his head vehemently. "I will not agree to a divorce. Stella, I know I've wronged you, but I truly don't want to lose you. As long as we stay married, I'll do whatever you want."
He couldn't bring himself to utter the garbage excuse that he 'just made a mistake any man would make,' but he absolutely could not let her go.
At the same time, forcing Faye to abort the child wasn't something he could do either, considering her father had literally traded his life for Julius's.
God only knew how agonizing these past few days had been for him!
Stella stayed quiet for a moment before asking, "So... how many weeks along is the other woman's child?"
Forget it. She'd consider this giving both of them one last chance.
She needed the facts before impulsively severing the marriage. Anger wouldn't solve anything.
