It was the first time Julius had ever seen Stella ruthlessly roast someone with so many words. He hadn't expected her to be so skilled at it.
He also finally saw the truth clearly: Faye was entirely motivated by his money.
As for the baby she was carrying, he was becoming increasingly convinced that he was just the innocent scapegoat.
He offered a placating response. "Faye, go inside for your examination first. The doctor is already waiting. We can talk about the divorce later."
He had already made all the necessary arrangements. The doctor inside knew exactly what to do.
Faye had no idea what was actually happening today; she assumed it was just another routine prenatal checkup.
The physician was loyal to Julius. He couldn't be bought by anyone.
"Okay, Julius, I'll head in now."
Once Faye disappeared into the room, Julius and Stella sat on the chairs out in the hallway to wait.
"Stella, I had no idea you were such a good actress."
On the way over, she had told him she wanted to test Faye's true intentions and warned him not to say anything that would ruin her plan. He genuinely hadn't expected her performance to be that convincing.
He had been more than happy to play along, given how much he already despised Faye's behavior.
"Who's acting? I'm not an actress. I was telling the truth. The day you walk away with nothing is the day you come work for me."
If that manipulative girl hadn't started spewing her sugary-sweet poison, Stella wouldn't have bothered hitting back so hard.
She had wasted a lot of breath just now. Usually, she preferred to let her fists do the talking.
If Faye hadn't been pregnant, Stella would have slapped her ages ago.
Julius promised, "Deal. I'll work for you for the rest of my life."
Stella ignored him. Once the nurse discreetly handed over the DNA samples, she turned on her heel and left without a backward glance.
She would reserve judgment until she personally tested the blood samples.
