Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 527

"You're absolutely right, darling. I didn't do anything to feel guilty about, I swear. From now on, I'm taking you with me on every single business trip, okay? With you around, no other woman will dare try anything."

He had been careless this time, blinded by the life debt he owed Faye's father, which clouded his judgment and gave Faye the perfect opening.

If Stella had simply given up on him without thinking it through or helping him figure it out, Faye's scheme would have actually worked.

Panic blinded him. The mere thought that Stella might divorce him over this had triggered his flight response. He hadn't wanted to face it, which paralyzed his critical thinking, leaving him completely vulnerable to manipulation.

Never again. He was going to carve this lesson into his memory permanently!

"Who says I want to go with you? I'm incredibly busy too, you know!"

She still needed to track down her grandfather, her mother's ashes were still missing, and all of these things required her time and focus.

Plus, she had been slacking off for half a year; it was high time she pushed forward with her own stalled projects.

Her original plan had been to take three months to get everything back on track, but her grandfather's situation had completely derailed her. Now, it was time to put her life back in order.

"Stella, I fully support you doing your own things, but please don't exhaust yourself. I'll work for you for the rest of my life. As soon as we get back, I'm transferring every single asset in my name over to you."

He had brought it up once before, but Stella had rejected it. After this entire ordeal, he was dead set on legally transferring everything he owned to her.

Faye's deception had fractured her trust in him, and he wanted to use his own methods to give her absolute security.

Words were cheap. He needed to prove through his actions that she could unconditionally trust him and his love for her again.

If the baby had actually been his, he would have taken financial responsibility for it, but he would never have loved Faye.

If Stella really had divorced him over this, he knew he would never be capable of loving another woman for the rest of his life.

Stella glanced at him after his declaration but remained silent, treating it as a test of his resolve.

Seeing that she didn't reply, Julius didn't push it. He simply pulled her against his chest, pressing a tender kiss to her forehead.
