"If you ever dare mistreat Stella, I will absolutely make sure you leave with nothing. So you'd better behave and never do anything to wrong her."
Nadine wasn't taking her eldest grandson's side this time.
Julius walked over, tossed his jacket onto the sofa, and sat down right between the two women.
"Grandmother, I'd never mistreat Stella. Please don't give her ideas like that."
His biggest fear was his wife bringing up divorce.
It was bad enough that his wife occasionally toyed with the idea of taking him to the cleaners, but now his own grandmother was joining in? It felt like a knife to the chest, and they didn't even realize how much it stung.
Stella found it hilarious. She knew Julius would react exactly like this.
If it had been Jason, he would have dramatically whined, "Grandmother, I don't think you love me anymore."
"Fine, I'll drop it. Just make sure you treat Stella right and live a good life together. If you bully her, I won't let you off easy."
"I know, Grandmother. I love her more than anything. Why would I ever bully her?"
As the three of them chatted, Jason returned.
When Nadine saw he was alone, her expression immediately soured. "Why did you come back by yourself? Where is Sabrina? Can't you invite her over for dinner?"
This brat was hopeless. She constantly had to spell it out for him before he even thought to bring Sabrina around. She had never seen anyone act so clueless in a relationship; he lacked all initiative.
"Grandmother, she was busy. She has plans tonight."
It wasn't that he hadn't asked—that woman simply refused to come with him!
She acted all sweet in front of everyone else, but to him, she was a total menace!
"I'm telling you, you need to get engaged to Sabrina as soon as possible. If she runs off, you'll regret it for the rest of your life."
Her youngest grandson was incredibly slow on the uptake. Sabrina was an incredible girl. If someone else scooped her up, Jason would be miserable.
"Grandmother, you're not being very cute right now. Didn't we agree to talk about this after Julius and Stella's wedding? Can you stop pressuring me?"
