Because everyone else was hyper-fixated on her Aeterna Pill, nobody had any interest in challenging one another. They all wanted a shot at Stella.
With Kyohei Sano locked in as her first opponent, the remaining challengers were forced to draw lots to determine who would face her next.
This completely caught Stella off guard. She hadn't expected the Aeterna Pill to incite this level of desperation.
Standing on the stage, Kyohei sneered at the masked woman. "What category are you challenging me in?"
Stella replied calmly, "Since I was the one who initiated the challenge, and Veridia Country values courtesy, I'll let you choose."
The fact that he spoke Veridian was a massive relief. If they couldn't communicate, her masters would relentlessly mock her for another hilariously incoherent argument once the broadcast went live.
Even with the mask on, she knew her masters would instantly recognize her. After all, she was their pride and joy.
She wondered if Julius was watching the live stream right now.
At that exact moment, the man she was thinking of was glued to his computer screen.
Sean Cahill walked in to deliver some documents and couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Blackwood, you've been staring at that screen for quite a while. Is the Cloudcroft City pharmaceutical auction really worth this level of attention?"
It was the first time he had ever seen his boss so invested in a live auction, and he couldn't see what was so special about it.
The boss had literally canceled a critical morning meeting just to sit there and watch. Sean honestly couldn't fathom the appeal.
Was there some massive financial opportunity hidden in this stream?
Julius glanced up at him. "I enjoy watching it. Is that a problem?"
His wife was right there on the screen. How could he not watch?
"Not at all."
Sean rolled his eyes internally, grumbling to himself: *You're the boss, whatever you say!*
He couldn't resist sneaking another peek at the monitor. He noticed his boss's eyes were laser-focused on the masked woman.
Back then, Sean had tried dropping countless hints, urging him not to do anything reckless.
But the boss had stubbornly ignored him, insisting on handing everything over to her.
Sean had been utterly baffled. Was a pretty face really worth risking everything for?
If she ever filed for divorce, the boss would be left completely destitute.
But if this masked woman truly was Mrs. Blackwood, then Sean was ready to admit he had been dead wrong. She was no trophy wife.
This was an unscripted, high-stakes medical challenge, and from the looks of it, the entire room was gunning for her.
Nobody steps into an arena like that without the skills to back it up.
He did wonder what the organizers were thinking, though. Why turn a prestigious auction into a gladiatorial contest?
Were they just desperate for viewership traffic?
