He did manage to find her, but before he could clear his name, he fell right back into her trap.
She didn't strip him and tie him to a pole this time. Instead, she just beat his men to a pulp again.
Not only that, but she force-fed him a literal poison. She demanded he confess every single crime he'd ever committed and hand over all his evidence, or his internal organs would rot and he'd die a gruesome death.
He hadn't believed her at first and immediately went to the hospital to get his stomach pumped. But even after the procedure, his body was wracked with agonizing pain, and blood began pouring from his nose and mouth.
The doctors confirmed he had ingested an unknown toxin that was rapidly spreading to his organs, and they had absolutely no way to cure him.
They told him if he didn't find an antidote, he would bleed out from every orifice and die.
Terrified out of his mind, he mobilized his entire gang, tracked her down, dropped to his knees, and confessed every single terrible thing he had ever done. He handed her a mountain of evidence and begged for his life.
With the blackmail secure, she finally gave him the antidote and let him live.
From that day on, she had him completely by the throat.
Desperate to escape her shadow, he abandoned his old territory and fled to Cloudcroft City.
Getting away from that cursed place actually seemed to work. He found a local mob boss as his godfather, did his dirty work, and eventually orchestrated the old man's death.
He took over the crew and the territory, finally becoming a true kingpin. But before he could even enjoy his success, he ran right back into this walking nightmare.
His life was a tragic joke.
Stella frowned. "Ten times the compensation? Do you have any idea how hard it was to get those? They were custom-made, low sugar, incredibly fresh, and tasted amazing.
"I was going to give them as gifts today. And now, just because you wanted to play the big man for some woman, you sent your thugs and ruined them."
