Dewey smiled and said, "Grandpa understands. You go and take care of your business with peace of mind. I'm not a little kid; I'm not going to play run-away-from-home."
Nadine asked worriedly, "Stella, where are you going? Julius hasn't returned from his trip, and now you're leaving the Capital too. Your wedding is right around the corner!"
These two were really making her anxious. The wedding was so close, yet they were running all over the place.
She had no idea what Julius was thinking. Was there something that couldn't wait until after the wedding to be handled?
"Grandma Nadine, I'll be back very soon, and Julius is almost done too. It won't delay our wedding. It's just that my grandfather will be imposing on you at the Manor."
"We're all family, what are you talking about? Besides, your grandfather doesn't want to stay in the main courtyard. He's staying in another wing. If he doesn't want to see this old lady, we might not cross paths for three days. Where's the imposition?"
The Manor sat on a massive piece of land with multiple courtyards. With the villas built later on, it was as grand as a royal estate from ancient times. Having one extra person stay over was absolutely nothing.
Nadine felt quite sorry for Dewey. He had fallen gravely ill the year before, and now he was suffering from amnesia. It was only right that Stella brought him to her side to take care of him.
Stella had also instructed her not to ask Dewey about his illness. She mentioned that he not only had amnesia but also mild delusions, often talking about things he imagined.
To be so old and not only lose his past memories but also forget his own granddaughter, and to suffer from delusions on top of that—it was truly tragic.
"Alright, I'll get going then. Grandpa, Grandma Nadine, goodbye."
The two elders waved at her. "Goodbye."
...
Stella caught the earliest flight to Creekfall City.
