The Harper family was incredibly wealthy. For an illegitimate daughter like her, marrying into the Harpers was a massive step up.

The Harper family's heir had been disgusted by her status as an illegitimate child and was reluctant to agree to the marriage.

The drug from last night had been given to her by her mother. She was supposed to use it on the Harper heir, and once she succeeded in seducing him, the Harpers would have no choice but to go through with the wedding.

Their original plan was to drug Stella, take compromising photos, and use them to blackmail her. They never expected to be played at their own game.

Chloe stood up and pulled her clothes back on. "Crying about it now won't change anything. Clean yourself up and let's go. We need to get out of here. We'll settle the score with Stella when the time comes."

She had been out all night. She didn't even know how she was going to explain this to her parents when she got home.

The two of them had completely brought this on themselves, yet they didn't reflect on their own actions for a second, instead placing all the blame entirely on someone else.

After getting dressed, Rhoda found her phone on the floor.

Their clothes were torn and barely provided any cover, making them look completely disheveled as they hurried out of the Ember Bar.

Thankfully, it was early in the morning. Aside from the night receptionist and the security guards, the bar was empty.

"Mr. Jennings, we had someone follow Steve. After he left yesterday, he went straight to the Astoria Grand Hotel. We dug into it, and he's been staying there ever since he arrived from Mistralia."

Sheridan lightly tapped his fingers against the desk. "Steve wouldn't come to our club to cause trouble every day for no reason."
