"Okay, I'll cooperate, I promise."
Outside the cabin, the operatives were beside themselves with anxiety.
"Boss, are we really just going to stand here and watch him hold Stella hostage?"
"Yeah, let me go in and swap with her. I'll be his hostage."
"No, let me do it!"
Julius raised a hand, silencing the commotion. "Quiet. My wife is more than capable. Stop panicking. That garbage is going to come flying out that door any second now."
His wife's combat skills were terrifying, and her signature move—launching grown men through the air with a single kick—was practically legendary.
Cyrus was an absolute idiot. He thought he had grabbed a helpless shield, completely unaware that he had just grabbed a live grenade. The four operatives combined probably couldn't take Stella down in a fair fight.
Just as the words left Julius's mouth, a blurry, human-sized object came rocketing out of the cabin door.
It crashed into the dirt, startling Marsh and the rest of the team.
When they finally processed that the groaning heap on the ground was Cyrus York, their jaws hit the floor.
"Holy—"
"Stella is a god!"
"She's officially my idol."
Julius crossed his arms over his chest, thoroughly smug. "What did I tell you? I said he'd come flying out, didn't I?"
Cyrus, the poor bastard, could have chosen anyone in that room, but he had to pick the one with the highest kill-count. He practically begged for it.
Cyrus had passed out on impact. A second later, Stella strolled out of the cabin, dusting off her hands.
"He's got a flash drive in his pocket. Someone grab it. It might have the intel you're looking for."
