"That's just how I talk," Stella said coldly. "If you don't like it, stay away from me. Also, whatever I buy is none of your business. Don't provoke me—I doubt you can handle the consequences. After all, I have no manners."
She even waved her fist at the mother-daughter duo after she spoke.
"Stella, we're in public. If you hit someone, security will throw you out."
Stella smiled incredibly gently. "Really? I've never experienced the thrill of being thrown out. Want to test that theory today?"
She took slow, deliberate steps toward Miranda and Chloe.
Miranda quickly called for her to stop. "Stella, please don't. We just want a little favor."
If this country bumpkin went crazy, she might actually hit someone. After all, she had completely trashed the Hawthorne Family estate last time, and even Frederick Hawthorne couldn't stop her.
Stella was really just trying to scare them. She had no actual desire to start a brawl in the middle of a mall, so she stopped in her tracks.
"If you need help, find the cops or mall security. I can't help you, and even if I could, I wouldn't."
Chloe put on a weak, pitiful act. "Stella, when we came out, Mom left her phone at home, and mine just happened to die. When we saw you, we just wanted to borrow your phone to call our driver to pick us up. You wouldn't look down on us just because you married someone rich and refuse to help with something so small, would you?"
Although her demeanor was fragile, her voice was loud enough that she was clearly performing for the bystanders.
By now, a crowd of nosy onlookers had gathered, and some were already pointing fingers at Stella.
Chloe had said it deliberately, hoping the peer pressure from the whispering crowd would make it impossible for Stella to refuse.
Even though she didn't want to waste her breath arguing with them, she also wasn't about to let them off the hook that easily.
So, she lowered her head. When she looked back up, she appeared incredibly wronged and completely heartbroken. With tears welling in her eyes, she sobbed softly.
"Miranda, Chloe... my mother died when I was young. Growing up, you hit me, starved me, stole my things, and even kept the belongings my mother left for me. I finally grew up and got married, but you took every cent of the wedding fund my husband's family gave and didn't give me a single thing for a dowry. You made me a laughingstock to my new family, but I endured it. After all, I'm just a motherless child. Now, if you want something, just say it. Why do you have to slander me in front of all these people?"
With that, she held out her phone. "If you need a phone, just take it. This will be the fifth phone of mine you've smashed. I just hope you return it to me after your call. Please don't smash my phone again, okay?"
She simply wanted to see what kind of scheme these two venomous snakes were trying to pull, so she unlocked her phone and handed it to Chloe.
By now, the crowd had grown even larger, and they had caught every single word Stella said.
