Miranda beamed. "Great job. Let's head back and figure out our next move. We didn't buy anything at the mall today, but the payoff was huge. That was almost too easy."
They had been racking their brains on how to get Stella's contact info just to use it to get Julius's number, and now they suddenly had both. How could she not be ecstatic?
Even though they had to swallow Stella's insults, it was completely worth it!
Chloe was overjoyed, too. Once she got back and prepared properly, she was going to call Julius and invite him out to dinner.
She refused to believe that Julius would choose a country bumpkin like Stella when she was superior in every single way.
This time, she was going to take back everything that belonged to her, and Stella would be crushed under her heel, just like when they were kids.
Everything Stella had belonged to her!
The mother and daughter returned to the Hawthorne Family house like triumphant generals, entirely forgetting the humiliation of being turned away at the Blackwood estate.
The next day.
Chloe called Julius in the late afternoon.
Julius glanced at the unknown caller ID and answered. "Who is this?"
"Julius, it's Chloe."
An overly sweet, artificial voice drifted through the receiver. Julius fought back the sudden urge to shudder and frowned. "How did you get my number?"
"Julius, don't worry about how I got your number. Let me treat you to dinner tonight. I have something very important to tell you."
"I don't think we have anything to discuss."
"Julius, it's about Stella's mother. I'm only going to tell you. Tonight at seven, Veridian Court. I'll be waiting."
Julius furrowed his brows. What kind of game was Chloe playing?
But since it was about Stella's mother, he figured he should see what act she was putting on. It was a good chance to bait her and see if she knew where the urn was hidden.
