Chapter 122
Tyler’s POV
Elena was rushed straight to the healers. The rest was a blur-people rushing around, bloody bandages thrown into piles on the floor, and all the while, Elena’s face remained pale and still.
Samson paced the infirmary, refusing to sit still. Tyler was so exhausted that he couldn’t stay standing. He could only hang his head in his hands, raking his fingers through his hair until blond strands came free.
It took hours. Elena was rushed into the operating chamber for an emergency surgery. The healers used every method they could to mend her internal injuries and keep her from bleeding out. They tried every antidote they could think of.
Finally, by the time the moon was high in the sky, the lead healer, Jayne, emerged with blood covering her uniform and a grave expression.
“Alphas.” She lifted her chin. Her eyes shimmered with tears, making Tyler’s stomach drop, but there was a note of hope in her gaze that gave him the strength to stand. “She pulled through. Barely.”
Tyler nearly collapsed again, but somehow, he managed to remain standing.
“How is she?” Samson asked.
Jayne parted her lips, but no words came. Finally, she gestured for them to follow, and led them through the infirmary to an area that was sectioned off by curtains. Moving one aside, she gave them access to Elena’s bed.
Goddess, she looked… horrible. Her skin was pale, her shallow breaths rattling wetly in her chest. When the healer moved over to her and gently moved her hospital gown aside to show the bandages crisscrossing her chest, Tyler felt his own twist with phantom pain.
Black veins spiderwebbed out from her would, dark and ugly, peeking out from beneath the bandages. They had begun working their way up her neck, marring her fair skin like claws had scratched her flesh.
“The poison is still working its way through her system,” the healer said, gently tugging Elena’s hospital gown back into place. She remained unconscious, and didn’t stir at the touch. “Our antidotes slowed its spread, but it will take more than an antidote to purify her blood.”
“What do we need to do?” Samson asked. He would do anything to save Elena-no matter the expense.
Jayne glanced between Tyler and his father for a moment before replying, “She’ll need a blood transfusion.” Her gaze landed on Tyler. “Her blood type is B-negative. The same as yours, Alpha Tyler.”
Tyler didn’t hesitate. “I’ll do the transfusion.”
Just then, Natasha, having overheard, stepped into view. Her face was pale. She only flicked her eyes to Elena for a split second before she grabbed her son’s arm.
“You can’t, Tyler,” she breathed. “You can’t give up your blood for-”
“I’ll give anything to keep Elena alive.” Tyler ripped his arm free and turned to the healer. “I want to do the transfusion.”

Natasha whirled on Samson then. “You have to talk some sense into him,” she insisted. “She’s only a-‘
“)
“Enough, Natasha. If Tyler wants to do the transfusion, then that’s his choice.” Samson’s voice was low and trembling with worry. He didn’t pull his eyes away from Elena’s sleeping form.
The healer nodded. “Very well. But you should know that, even with the initial transfusion, it may take several days before Elena is out of danger. She could still die, or end up in a vegetative state. During this time, she’ll need daily transfusions if we’re going to see her pull through.”
“I’ll do whatever it takes,” Tyler said firmly.
With the decision made, Tyler gave his blood to the healers to get started. They took a small pouch full of blood from his arm, which took an hour to collect. Once the blood was prepared, it was hooked up to Natalia’s IV. 1
Tyler refused to leave her bedside the entire time. He clutched her hand tightly, silently willing her to stay strong, to pull through.
“Please, Elena,” he whispered desperately. “Please stay with me…’
