Chapter 40
Tyler’s POV
“HELP!”
The mental voice took Tyler by surprise. That voice… It was Samantha’s.
Somehow, she had mindlinked him.
Tyler didn’t hesitate. He shoved his way through the crowd and ran out of the ballroom. His footsteps were still unsteady from the lingering effects of the alcohol, but he didn’t let that slow him down as he took two stairs at a time.
“Elena!” he shouted, using Samantha’s fake name as he barreled down the corridor toward her room. “I’m coming!”
A few moments later, he burst into the door next to his own bedroom and spotted a scene that made his blood run cold with fury.
Alpha Kade was standing over Samantha, hand pressed to his face in shock. Samantha looked terrified.
Before he could think twice, Tyler had swung a punch at Kade’s face that sent him slamming back against the bed frame. Kade grunted, blood instantly streaming out of his nose as he slid down to the floor.
“Tyler!” Samantha launched herself at Tyler, and he caught her in one arm, holding her tight.
Kade stood, still holding his hand to his nose. Blood streamed from between his fingers. Tyler lifted his chin. “You came after the wrong person,” he snarled. “Now get out, before I rip your throat out with my bare hands.”
Kade sneered at Tyler. “You’re going to regret this, kid,” he spat out before turning and storming out of the room.
Samantha’s POV
“Are you alright?” Tyler turned to me as soon as Kade was gone, looking me over for injury.
“I’m alright. Thanks to you. But how did you know I needed help?”
Tyler furrowed his brow.”You didn’t realize? You mindlinked me.”
I blinked in surprise. I didn’t recall doing that, but maybe I had in my panic. But it should have been impossible. ” But… How is that possible?”
“That’s the thing.” Tyler furrowed his brow. “Ever since you arrived, I can’t help but feel this… connection to you. We should tell my father.”
I nodded, and a few minutes later, Samson was standing in my room. Tyler and I told him everything. His expression went from outrage to concern to confusion as he listened. First and foremost, he sent his Beta and several Gammas to ensure Kade left the pack, then sat on the edge of my bed and considered what Tyler had told him about the mindlink.
“Hm…” Samson stroked his chin and glanced between us. “Perhaps you’re mates?”
Tyler whipped his head toward me. My cheeks flushed.
Natasha, who had been standing in the doorway, gasped and clutched the pendant at her throat. “That’s

impossible!” she breathed. “Samson, you’re not seriously saying she could be the future Luna of Nightshade, are you?”
“It was a simple observation.” Samson waved his hand dismissively, still looking at me. “Samantha, I want you to know that if you do share a mate bond with Tyler, it’s up to you whether you pursue it or not.”
“I’m still mated to Kade,” I blurted out. “Even after my rebirth, the bond is still there.” I swallowed hard and glanced at Tyler, who was pale. “If he finds out about this, he’ll definitely come back. Please, I can’t go there-”
“Kade won’t take you away from us,” Samson reassured me. “We’ll keep it quiet for now. But I would like to do something to celebrate this… wonderful news. Something small and private, of course.”
Some of the tension slipped from my shoulders at that. “Let’s have a family dinner tomorrow night to discuss everything,” Samson said, standing. “For now, I think you need to rest, Samantha.”
