Chapter 27
Jasper was just about to get up when Louisa’s slender fingers suddenly caught his collar. His tall frame was tugged down, and in one smooth motion, Louisa shifted their positions, pinning him beneath her on the bed.
Even at such close range, his features were still impossibly handsome. He was flawless in
every way.
Her soft fingers traced his throat, brushing lightly over his Adam’s apple.
Jasper’s breathing instantly grew heavier. He grabbed her hand and was about to sit up, but she pressed firmly against his shoulder, stopping him.
He toyed lazily with her delicate fingers, his low, teasing voice slipping straight into her ears. Darling, we just did it last night. I don’t wanna end up hurt again.”
Louisa’s face burned. “Who said anything about that?”
She tried to keep her voice serious. “Why did Estelle go looking for you just now?”
“I don’t know.”
“You really don’t know? She was barely dressed and standing outside in the cold, but you
didn’t even let her in.”
Just thinking about how little Estelle had been wearing made Louisa shiver.
Jasper’s voice was cool and indifferent. “What she wears has nothing to do with me.”
Louisa broke into a smile instantly. This was her Jasper.
“If my darling got jealous, wouldn’t I be left to starve?”
The smile in Louisa’s eyes froze. Before she could respond, he had already risen from the bed. His arm slipped around her waist, pulling her down onto his lap.
Estelle had been lingering outside the whole time. Jasper had casually shut the door when he carried Louisa back in. Unwilling to leave, Estelle crept closer and pressed her ear toward it.
Suddenly, the door swung open, slamming straight into her face. Pain exploded across her face.
“What are you doing?”
A cold, harsh voice came from above her.
Estelle endured the burning pain, her eyes instantly filling with tears as she said in a soft, pitiful tone, “Nothing.”

Jasper didn’t even look at her. He strode away without a second glance.
Estelle felt the sting spread across her face.
Desperate to know what had just happened between the two of them, she started knocking on the door, but no one answered from inside. Furious, she kicked the door hard, then spun around and stormed back to her room. She bombarded Louisa with message after message but was only met with silence.
She punched the pillow in frustration.
Just then, Rosie’s call came through. Finally finding an outlet for her grievances, Estelle immediately poured out everything she’d suffered, exaggerating it all as she complained to
Rosie.
“Why does she get to wear so many pretty clothes? Mom, I want to snatch away clothes and wear them myself!” Estelle said bitterly, her jealousy unmistakable in every word.
Rosie thought for a few seconds, then smiled. “Alright. Don’t worry. Everything she has will eventually be yours.”
