“If that still doesn’t work, try this one.”
Louisa narrowed her eyes slightly. Receiving a link this late at night? Could it be…
She found it hard to believe that Jasper would actually look up something like that. Curious,
she tapped the link and scanned the page before quickly clasping her mouth.
“What do you do when your girlfriend gives you the cold shoulder?
“1. Buy her the things she likes-clothes, jewelry, anything.
“2. Pamper her-shower her with affection; women always soften under attention.
“3. Sweet talk-never skimp on compliments.”
No wonder Jasper had suddenly bought her so many clothes. It turned out he thought Louisa was giving him the silent treatment.
She felt both amused and a little bittersweet.
Just then, the door opened, and Jasper came in with a glass of water. He noticed she was holding his phone, and for a brief moment, the usually calm and collected man looked slightly unsettled.
“Jas, you’ve already checked off the first two. Shouldn’t it be time for the third?” Louisa asked. She propped her chin on one hand, her eyes glinting with a playful charm.
He silently took his phone back.
“Jas.” She tugged on his hand, clearly dissatisfied. She had never once heard him say things like, “I like you,” or “I love you”.
Not now, not before, not even back when she died. That was why, in her past life, she had believed he didn’t actually love her.
“It’s late. Go to sleep,” Jasper said, tucking the blanket around her.
But she refused to let go of his hand. “Jas, do you like me or not?”
“You should sleep now.”
“I won’t sleep until you tell me! Come on, say it.
She pestered him nonstop.
He could be teasing at times, sure, but he had never actually said these words.
Suddenly, her face was cradled in his hands, and his lips were pressed gently against her

forehead. Her body shivered as his warm kisses raced a path from her brow, down the bridge of her nose, over the corner of her lips, her chin, and finally, to her collarbone.
She instinctively clutched his clothes. “Jas, what are you doing?”
“Didn’t you want to know whether I like you?” His deep, smooth voice was husky, intoxicating, and teasing all at once.
When she felt the ties of her pajama top loosening, she immediately dove under the covers, her face burning red. “Okay, okay, I get it! You don’t have to prove it! Get out, now!”
