Chapter 32
Estelle didn’t even know how to respond. Her mouth fell open, but no words came out.
Jasper wasn’t done. His deep, dark gaze was cold to the bone. “Since you know you’re the one who upset Louisa, pack your things and leave.”
Estelle’s eyes flew wide. “No, that’s not-”
Wait. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.
Even when the maids had escorted her to the front gates, Estelle was still in a daze. When the towering wrought iron doors slammed shut in front of her, she snapped out of it and rushed forward, pounding on them.
“This isn’t how it is! She’s the one who bullied me! Louisa bullied me!” She was so furious that she nearly lost control, screaming at the top of her lungs.
“So, you were bullied, huh?”
Jasper’s cool, pale fingers brushed gently over Louisa’s cheek back inside the house.
Louisa’s heart stirred. Had he come back because he knew she’d been mistreated?
“No. Didn’t I already get even? I’m not the type to just swallow it and suffer,” she said with a
smile.
Jasper already knew everything that had happened. Watching her smile, his gaze darkened instead. “Anyone who dares to take what’s yours should ask themselves whether they’re lucky enough to keep it.”
The look in his eyes was so dangerous that Louisa actually felt a flicker of fear.
“I’m really glad I’ve never picked a fight with you,” she blurted out.
Anyone who crossed Jasper never ended well.
He glanced at her, his tone cool but laced with indulgence. “If it weren’t to go against me,
would
you still have decided to return to your studies?”
Out of everyone he knew, she was the most disobedient. And yet, he was helpless when it came to her.
Louisa chuckled foolishly and said, “I’m not going against you. I’m improving myself, so I can be worthy of you.”
His gaze grew unfathomable as he looked at her. He kept silent.

Curious as ever, she asked, “So, what did you do?
“You don’t need to know.” He flicked her forehead lightly and strode into the living room.
Her curiosity only grew. She followed behind him like a little rabbit. In the end, he picked her
and sat her down at the dining table.

“Eat this.” His tone left no room for argument.
Louisa pouted, knowing he was trying to distract her with food. It wasn’t like she was some foodie. But when she looked down and saw that every dish on the table was something she loved, her eyes instantly lit up.
She flashed a toothy grin. “Jas, you’re the best.”
