Reborn heiress on a scumbag hunt novel Chapter 31

Chapter 31

Louisa’s logic was sound. Keeping her in the Hayes residence could be advantageous later.

Ava snorted. “Fine. We’ll take just these today. We’ll come back another time.”

Estelle immediately protested, “Grandma!”

Ava soothed her, saying, “Don’t worry, we’ll come back and take even more next time.”

Estelle bit her lip and nodded reluctantly. This was already a decent haul, and there would be

another chance later.

Watching Ava show such favoritism, Louisa’s expression remained unreadable, though her fingers clenched tightly.

Once the clothes were hauled away, the group finally left.

Estelle shot Louisa a glance and strode downstairs.

Maryanne stepped forward, wanting to comfort Louisa, but Louisa lowered her gaze and gently touched the injury on Maryanne’s face. “Il get you an ice pack from the kitchen.’ “Oh, I’m fine. I’ve seen it all at my age. What’s a little thing like this? You’re the one I’m worried about, Mrs. Hayes. Don’t let your grandmother’s words get to you.”

A faint, bitter smile curved Louisa’s lips. Even strangers could end up caring more about you than your own family. How ridiculous.

“Don’t worry.”

She insisted on taking Maryanne downstairs and handed her an ice pack.

When she returned to the living room, she saw Estelle sprawled on the couch, snacking on potato chips and watching TV. She left crumbs everywhere.

“Louisa, here you are. Is afternoon tea ready?” Estelle asked immediately.

Louisa’s expression stayed calm. “Yeah. Come with me.”

Estelle sneered. She knew it. Louisa would definitely follow orders and prepare it.

She brushed the crumbs off her hands and followed Louisa toward the door. As they stepped down from the entryway platform, she suddenly stumbled and crashed hard onto the ground, scraping her chin.

She screamed, tears instantly welling from the pain. She struggled to her feet and snapped at Louisa, “Are you crazy?”

The moment the words left her mouth, the sound of a car engine came from outside.

Jasper was back.

His gaze swept over Estelle’s face, and she instantly said in a choked voice, “Jasper, please don’t be mad. Louisa didn’t mean to do it…”

She looked like the whole world had treated her terribly.

Seeing Jasper walk over, she lowered her head even further to make herself look more pitiful than ever, but he walked right past her and stopped in front of Louisa.

Estelle froze. She couldn’t believe he had just ignored her completely. Clutching her injured face, she rushed after him, tears still streaming down her face.

Louisa, I don’t know what I did to upset you so badly that you pushed me down the stairs. I’ll be more careful next time.”
