Chapter 91 Why is there lipstick on this?

Sabrina Johnson was standing by the river, looking lost and defeated. Amelia Johnson rushed over and grabbed her arm. “Sabrina, what are you thinking? You can’t be like this.”
“I’m not doing anything stupid,” Sabrina said between sobs. “I didn’t do anything wrong. I know it sounds fishy, and even I wouldn’t believe it, but it’s the truth.”
Amelia gently wiped her tears with a tissue. “Sabrina, even if others don’t believe you, Ethan and I do.”
“Ethan, do you believe me?” Sabrina didn’t care what Amelia thought-only Ethan’s opinion mattered to
her.
“What really happened?” Ethan Collins looked her straight in the eyes, voice low. “Where did that painting come from?”
Sabrina mumbled, “I found it at home. I thought it was pretty, so I kept it.”
“Where exactly did you find it? That painting was given to Amelia by a friend,” Ethan pressed.
Sabrina bit her lip. “No wonder… I picked it up outside Amelia’s room door. Sis, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have just taken it. I should’ve asked first. I just thought it looked really nice.”
“It’s alright, it’s just a painting. If you like it, it’s yours,” Amelia said softly, patting her hand. “I know you didn’t mean to cause trouble. I’ll talk to Emily Carter about it.”
“But he’s just an assistant. Will talking to him even help?” Sabrina looked down on Emily, thinking he was just some nobody, but now she had to rely on him.
“Doesn’t matter whether it’ll work or not. We’ve got to at least try,” Amelia said, trailing off a bit at the end.
“What?” Sabrina asked quickly.
“He might be my cousin, but we’re not exactly close. If you want him to help, you’ll need to at least bring a gift,” Amelia said, eyeing her carefully. “Ethan, any ideas? What kind of gifts do guys like?”
Ethan frowned slightly. “Honestly, this might be pointless. There were so many people watching when it happened. If she’s not expelled, people might not accept it.”
“I get it, but we’ve got to try, right? If we don’t fight for it, we won’t even have a chance,” Amelia said, holding Sabrina’s hand. “Don’t stress too much. It’ll be okay.”
On his advice, Sabrina picked out a limited edition lighter.
“Sis, maybe you can give it to Emily for me?” Sabrina didn’t want to get kicked out of school, but begging Emily herself? That was even harder.
Amelia shook her head. “No way. If you want help, you’ve gotta show you mean it. Do it yourself.”
Later that day, Emily Carter got a call from Sabrina, asking him out to dinner.
She picked a fancy five-star hotel-it hurt just thinking about how much it would cost, but if she wanted to stay at Veritas, she had to suck it up.

As soon as Emily sat down, he frowned. “It’s kinda noisy here. Not really great for eating.”
“Wanna go somewhere else?” Sabrina offered quickly.
He pointed to the private dining area. “Let’s go over there.”
Claims
“Sure, sounds good,” she agreed right away, even though she was dying inside. Those private rooms had a minimum charge, and the last place she wanted to be was deeper in her overdraft-but she had no choice if she wanted to get on his good side. Once they stepped into the private room, Emily Carter glanced at the menu. “Wow, these dishes are kinda pricey.”
“It’s on me. Just order whatever you like.” Sabrina Johnson forced a smile, though her heart was bleeding.
