Chapter 93 Three hundred thousand

Damien’s voice had that low, teasing undertone that made Amelia’s heart thump a little

faster, her cheeks heating up again. She almost fumbled her phone trying to keep it steady.

Clearing her throat, she tried to play it cool.

“Sure, what kind of game are we playing now? I rock at match–3 games too.”

Damien chuckled softly and reached up to tuck a loose strand of her hair behind her ear.

“Anything’s fine. You pick.”

The second his cool fingertips brushed her skin, a jolt ran through Amelia’s body–like a

sudden static shock–making her breath hitch slightly.

“Hurry up, I’ve already sent the team invite,” Damien added casually.

Feeling a bit too close for comfort, Amelia subtly leaned back a little, trying not to make it

obvious.

Damien accepted her request without missing a beat.

The two of them were a powerhouse team–not only were their characters well–geared, but

their coordination was practically flawless. They crushed several PvP battles without a single

loss. After a while, the ‘too–easy‘ vibe started to grate on Amelia.

“Wanna run a dungeon?” Damien asked.

He had a real knack for picking up even the tiniest change in her expression.

Amelia shook her head. “We’ve done them all. No challenge. There’s supposed to be a hard

mode one coming soon, drops rare gear you can’t craft.”

Damien’s eyes narrowed with a sly glint. “Cool, but there’s a catch.”

That got Amelia’s attention. She hadn’t checked the game’s official news lately. “What kind of

catch?”

“We have to be married in–game.”

“What?”

Amelia blinked, looking up, shocked. Her big, bright eyes gleamed with surprise–like starlight

Damien’s tone softened, and he handed her his phone. The game event announcement was

right there on the screen.

“See for yourself.”

Her fingers trembled slightly as she took it. After reading the news, it was as if a bucket of cold water got dumped over her head, instantly washing away all her flustered feelings.

So that was it–the new dungeon was couple–exclusive.

But what she missed was the logo of the co–developer on the post. Taylor Corp.

Trying to act casual, she nodded. “Ahem, alright, let’s just do it now. Shouldn’t take more than

ten minutes.”

But Damien calmly took her phone, quit the game and set it down on the table.

“No rush. It’s already late. Let’s sleep first.”

Amelia glanced at the time: past eleven. So, she obediently lay down, but before switching

the lights off, she left the small wall lamp on for him.

Damien tugged the covers over her gently. “Goodnight.”

Then he naturally pulled her close, resting a hand around her waist.

“Goodnight,” Amelia mumbled, eyes shut, voice steady. But under the blanket, her hand

clutched the edge tightly.

The next day.

Amelia only went back to the Johnson house after grabbing lunch at Emily’s. The moment she stepped inside, Richard and Grace were already waiting to pounce.

“Where were you all night? Again?”

Amelia put on a pitiful look, voice soft. “There was a dinner party, and I heard someone there

had connections with Principal Veritas, so I thought maybe they could help… you know, so

Sabrina won’t get expelled. I ended up running around all night and figured coming back that

late might wake you guys, so I just crashed at my cousin’s place.”

The second they heard she was helping Sabrina, the shift in Richard and Grace’s attitude was

immediate. Grace nearly tripped over herself keeping up with Amelia, all anxious.

“So? Did they agree to help or what? Amelia, you know your sister can’t afford to leave

Veritas. If she really gets kicked out, that plagiarism thing’s gonna stick and which other

school would still take her then?!“Grace Williams tugged Richard Johnson’s sleeve and shot

Amelia gasped dramatically. “You don’t think she’s… like, doing something drastic, do you?!”
