Last night at the restaurant, Sabrina Johnson nearly passed out when she saw the bill–over

fifty grand?!

She rummaged through her bag like crazy but only scraped together just over a thousand.

With her hands almost trembling, she pulled out the credit card Grace had given her. Swipe.

Declined. Still short by over ten thousand. Helpless, she turned to Emily Carter, who was

calmly picking at his teeth like nothing happened.

“Hold it, you’re the one who said it was your treat. Don’t even think about charging me.”

The staff clearly knew Emily–he was a VIP regular after all–so they all just watched the drama unfold. They looked at Sabrina like she was trying too hard to impress him and completely embarrassed herself in the process.

Sabrina could barely handle all those sarcastic glances. Her face flushed with a mix of red

and green as she forced herself to call Chloe Hughes and a few others to scrape together the

rest.

It might’ve been the most humiliating moment of her life.

After finally paying, she ran to try and catch up with Emily like a kicked puppy.

“Um… Mr. Carter, you know, since we already had the dinner, maybe…”

“You really have the nerve to bring this up? If you couldn’t pay, why invite me to a place like

that? You made me look bad too!” Emily shot back with zero mercy and flagged a cab,

leaving behind just the sound of the engine and a face–full of exhaust.

Total disaster.

Right then and there, Sabrina cracked.

The night wind hit her like a slap, making her shiver all over. She wanted to call a cab too, but

with no cash left, she had no choice but to totter home in her heels.

Even though Amelia Johnson had already gotten the whole story from Emily last night,

hearing Sabrina tell her side now was still wildly entertaining. She could barely hold back her

When she came out, Sabrina was shooting daggers at her.

“You were totally laughing at me, weren’t you?” Sabrina asked through gritted teeth.

Amelia put on her most innocent face. “No way! I totally feel bad for you. Just like Grace

does. I was just watching this really funny video, that’s all.”

It was the clip Emily had sent her.

“Wanna watch it? Might brighten your mood.”

Amelia’s eyes glinted sneakily, like a fox up to no good. She gave a little sigh. “Suit yourself.
