Chapter 109 Encounter

Clato

After saying goodbye to Isla Shaw, whose eyes were all puffy from crying for a scene, Amelia

Johnson scrolled through her phone, looking up ways to get rid of swelling and sent them to

her.

Amelia Johnson: Just sent you a few good tips to fix those puffy eyes, Superwoman.

Isla Shaw: Love ya, Amelia! Also, kinda loving that nickname, haha!

Amelia Johnson: Love you too, heart emoji–now drop that phone and give your eyes a break.

Isla Shaw: Got it! Oh, and just a heads–up, it’s really hard to get a cab near the set. Better

book a ride, and let me know when you get home, okay?

Amelia Johnson: You got it!

That last “Let me know when you’re home” really tugged at Amelia’s heartstrings.

She’d grown up in the countryside, and her adoptive parents had treated her better than most

real ones would. Add to that Isla Shaw, Emily Carter, and her little brother Oliver Foster–all of

them cared for her like real family.

Because of them, growing up had actually been warm and full of love.

Buzz-

Emily Carter messaged: Hehe, you’re probably done visiting our girl Isla, right? On your way

back, can you grab me a crepe from that place near the set? Pretty please?

Amelia Johnson: Isn’t there one in the mall across from Taylor Mansion? Just say you’re lazy.

Emily Carter: NONONO! People online say the one near the set is next–level delicious, and I

need to know if it’s true! Pleasepleaseplease, you’re the best!

Amelia finally sent back an “OK” emoji. She just couldn’t resist Emily’s shameless begging.

As she stepped out of the set, she was about to book a ride when a staff member came

running up with a big grin. “Miss Johnson, Mr. Taylor left this for you.”

It was a hefty paper bag.

“Thanks.”

Inside, she found a bunch of her favorite snacks, the keys to the Black Feather, and a note

scribbled in bold, confident handwriting.

“Hard to find a cab around here.”

Damien Taylor’s thoughtfulness made Amelia’s heart feel way too soft.

Following Emily’s directions, she drove over to the crepe spot. Since it was tucked inside an

alley, Amelia had to park and walk in.

She hadn’t even fully turned the corner when the amazing smell hit her. Her stomach.

instantly started protesting.

But then–surprise–there was a massive line outside the tiny shop.

“Seriously? Is it really that good?”

If she hadn’t promised Emily, she probably would’ve bailed right then and there.

A staff member, all smiles, handed her a number. “Looking to try our crepe? Here, take a

ticket.”

She glanced down–Number 99. Amelia nearly passed out.

She figured she’d wait for a bit… maybe some people would give up and leave early.

Good thing Damien had packed her those snacks. Without them, she would’ve been hangry

and ready to cry.

“Well, well, out here all alone?”

A group of guys started to close in on her. One even let out a low whistle.

Amelia shot them a cold glare and said, voice dripping with sarcasm, “Not really alone, looks

like you’re all clumped together nicely.”

But they clearly weren’t bothered. Instead, they kept advancing, eyes creeping over her

shamelessly.

“Why don’t you hang with us for a while? We’ll make sure you have a real good time.”

Amelia had absolutely no patience to play games. She pulled out her phone, calm as ever.

“Here’s your one chance. I’m gonna count to three. Stick around, and I’m calling the cops.“The

moment Amelia mentioned calling the cops, those thugs immediately flinched. But clearly,

Suddenly, a bright, cheerful voice cut in, “Got all that on camera! If the cops do show up, well,
