Amelia Johnson bit her lip, brows furrowed. “So just one person per invitation?”
“Yep. Don’t believe me? Feel free to ask the staff.” Sabrina Johnson smirked.
The staff nearby was already sick of Sabrina’s attitude. Now with Amelia joining in–though she was pretty–she lumped the two together and said coldly, “Exactly. Each invite is for one person only. Same goes for the VIP badge.”
Amelia nodded as if it just clicked for her, then suddenly flashed a bright smile and wiggled the fancy badge in her hand. “Oh, you mean this? Lucky me–I’ve got one!”
The moment Amelia pulled out the VIP badge, the whole vibe changed. The host at the entrance instantly bent at a ninety–degree angle in a proper bow. “Welcome, ma’am. Please follow me. You’ll have a personal attendant for the evening.”
A personal attendant? Really?
Amelia raised an eyebrow–this felt a bit too much. She didn’t need someone shadowing her tonight–it’d just get in the way of what she came here to do. But she chose to smile and nod. It wasn’t the time to say no and stir suspicion. She’d find a way to shake them later.
“Sorry, sis… looks like I’m heading in first.”
“Wait, hold up!” Sabrina tried to catch up, but the staff stepped in before she could follow. She stomped her foot in frustration. “I’m her sister!”
Amelia sighed and turned back. “Sabrina, you heard them–invites and badges are non–transferable. I can’t bring you in.”
“And don’t you already have an invitation yourself? Why not use that?”
Sabrina snapped, “I left it at home, okay? Someone’s bringing it over now.”
Amelia widened her eyes in mock surprise and covered her mouth theatrically. “Oh no, the
party’s about to kick off. You should probably hurry and give them another ce
Sabrina quickly dialed Grace Williams, ignoring Amelia completely. But her he she heard the bad news–her invite wasn’t at home.
Just as she hit peak panic, her phone rang again. The Lincoln driver called. “Miss Jo

“What?! Then hurry up and bring it over!” Sabrina nearly exploded. She couldn’t for the life of
her remember when she had even dropped it.
Too bad she also missed something important–why did the driver call her directly? Shouldn’t he have contacted Grace, the one who rented the car and left her number?
Of course, that had all been staged by Amelia.
Back when Sabrina insisted on helping Amelia change dresses, Amelia lifted the invitation out of her bag without her even noticing. A few minutes ago, she had someone slip it to the Lincoln driver, handed him a few hundred bucks, and told him to call Sabrina.
Now that she was inside, Amelia took her chance and slipped away unnoticed to the fifteenth floor to get down to business.
Her mission? Stop a major online transaction, something that had to be manually interrupted
up close.
Emily Carter’s voice crackled in her Bluetooth earpiece, “Summer, it’s still too far. You’ll need to get to the twentieth floor.”
Amelia was already changing into a plain janitor uniform. “I figured. Sit tight–I’ve got this.”
After their call, Amelia stashed her laptop in the janitor’s cart, tugged on a surgical mask, and
headed for the elevator.
She tapped the button and rolled the cart in, calm as could be, humming inside her head. But when the elevator doors dinged open on the twentieth floor, her heart nearly leapt into her
throat.
A wall of security guards stared right at her, at least a dozen of them in the hallway.
Damn it, Emily totally forgot to mention there were this many guards.
But it was too late to back out. Amelia was already here. And retreat? Yeah, not her thing. She sucked in a breath and kept her cool as all those guards turned their sharp gazes to
“Cleaning? Now?” one of them asked suspiciously.“Sorry, it was Mr. Taylor who told come clean.” Amelia Johnson deliberately lowered her voice to sound older and hunc over slightly, looking every bit like a cleaning lady in her fifties.

The heiress chuckled mockingly, clearly not buying it. “Oh really? Then where’s your friend?
Just then, Sabrina walked toward them and noticed the growing crowd around Chloe, raising
