She couldn’t help but tease, “Wow, Damien, didn’t peg you for the cutesy type. Got a thing for girly decor?”
Definitely not the vibe Damien was going for.
He just wanted to switch things up–create a space she’d feel comfortable in, something she’d like.
When he suddenly sat down with a grim face and said nothing, Amelia instantly stopped laughing. Uh oh, did I hit a nerve?
She edged closer carefully. “Ahem… I mean, it’s actually not bad. Everyone’s got their own taste and all that….”
Without warning, Damien pulled her into his arms and shut her rambling lips with a kiss.
It was a long kiss. When he finally let her go, he still looked like he wasn’t done yet.
Amelia leaned against him, cheeks blazing red. She was flustered, and her pretty little face made her look even more irresistibly fragile.
Unable to hold back, Damien went in for another kiss.
Amelia tensed up, unsure whether to push him away or just let it happen. In the end, she tilted her head up and kissed him back.
Just as Damien started slipping off her coat, the phone on the side buzzed, completely ruining the mood.
The ringtone snapped Amelia out of it. Her hazy eyes cleared in an instant. She quickly grabbed Damien’s hand, looking super awkward. “Uh, phone… it’s ringing…”
Damien rolled over with a sigh, still breathing heavily, eyes locked on Amelia’s soft, glowing skin. His whole body screamed to just forget the call and keep going–she was driving him crazy.
But he stopped himself. He could sense she wasn’t fully ready yet.
Instead, he picked up her coat and draped it over her shoulders, his voice low and gravelly. “I’m gonna hop in the shower.”
Too embarrassed to even look up, Amelia clutched the coat around herself.
The way she looked–shy and adorable–made Damien’s jaw tighten. He lifted her chin, gave her another deep kiss, then turned and headed straight to the bathroom.
He didn’t trust himself to stay another second longer.
When the phone rang a second time, Amelia finally answered, voice still a bit shaky. “Hello?”
Richard Johnson didn’t notice anything off, just told her, “Mr. Collins just dropped by. Says he needs to talk to you.”
“Mr. Collins? Did he say what it’s about?” she asked, picking her clothes off the floor and getting dressed, though some ideas were already forming in her head.
“Better if you just come back first. He brought over quite a few things too,” Richard added.
After ending the call, now fully dressed, she glanced toward the bathroom and–after some hesitation- knocked lightly.
