Chapter 125 Overprotective moms ruin sons!

As soon as Amelia Johnson stepped through the door, her eyes landed on a pile of gifts stacked high in the entryway–clearly all from Mr. Collins.
For a second, it honestly felt like one of those old–school matchmaking visits from back in the day.
Mr. Collins had always doted on her like she was his own granddaughter, probably even more than that. No doubt, he was the person most hopeful that she’d end up marrying Ethan Collins.
Too bad–there was just no way that was happening.
She took a deep breath and walked into the living room, flashing a bright smile. “Hi, Grandpa Collins.”
Seeing her, Mr. Collins instantly lit up. He waved her over with a big grin. “Haven’t seen you in a while, and look at you–getting prettier every time!”
Amelia walked over gracefully and sat down with ease. “Thank you, Grandpa Collins.”
Then she pointed at the mountain of gifts in the room, pretending to be puzzled. “Why’d you bring so many things? That’s really too much.”
Mr. Collins waved it off and chuckled. “Ethan picked them out for you. He’ll be here soon after he finishes up.”
Amelia shook her head gently, her tone firm. “Grandpa Collins, this is a bit over the top. And honestly, I can’t accept all these for no reason.”
“It’s fine. Honestly, he should be doing more for you than this anyway,” Mr. Collins said with a carefree
smile.
That little refusal? Yeah… Richard Johnson and Grace Williams were obviously annoyed. But with Mr. Collins here, they kept it to themselves.
Clearly, Ethan hadn’t told Mr. Collins about the breakup. Amelia figured that much. She didn’t really get what Ethan’s deal was either, but she knew she couldn’t keep hiding it–especially from someone who’d always treated her so kindly.
So she took a deep breath, gathered her courage, and said it straight: “Grandpa Collins, actually… Ethan and I broke up a while ago. We weren’t really compatible, and feelings just kind of faded. Pushing it would only make things worse.”
“Maybe he didn’t tell you because he didn’t want you to worry.”
Mr. Collins didn’t lash out; he just let out this quiet sigh, like he had seen it coming but wasn’t quite ready for it.
“He’s not wonted about me. He just didn’t have the guts to say it. Too scared to deal with it!”
“Please don’t be upset,” Amelia said softly. “Even if I’m not your granddaughter–in–law, I’ll still visit you when I can.”
Looking at her, Mr. Collins sighed again. “You’re a good girl, Amelia. Just a shame Ethan didn’t know how

“Grandpa Collins, honestly, Sabrina’s a great girl too. Maybe you could try matching her with Ethan instead,
Amelia suggested casually.
Grace perked up right away, clearly thrilled as she jumped in. “Exactly! Sabrina’s sweet and polite, she can host guests, cook–she’s great all around.”
Richard didn’t care much either way. Sure, Ethan wasn’t Damien Taylor, but he was still a decent catch.
Right at that moment, Ethan and Sabrina walked in together–which instantly darkened Mr. Collins‘ face.
And just like that, everything was clear to him: no wonder Amelia dumped Ethan. He’d clearly moved on.
“Grandpa,” Ethan called out.
“Don’t call me that! Look at the mess you’ve made!” Mr. Collins snapped, voice full of disappointment before storming out.
Ethan was stunned. He had been counting on his grandfather helping him patch things up with Amelia. What the heck just went down?Amelia Johnson quickly got to her feet and urged Ethan Collins to hurry after Mr. Collins. She was really worried the old man might get too worked up and stumble or something. That would be bad.
During the whole ride home, Mr. Collins didn’t say a word. It wasn’t until they got back to the house that he finally exploded. “I told you from the start to treat Amelia right. And what did you do? Two–timing her and even going out in public with Sabrina Johnson! How could she ever forgive you now?”
“You’ve really let me down, Ethan. A man from the Collins family acting so spineless? Unbelievable!”
Hearing the yelling from inside, Patricia Collins rushed out. She saw Ethan practically shrinking under the scolding and quickly tried to break things up. “Dad, please calm down. Can’t we talk this through? There are people around, let’s not make a scene. Give the kid a little dignity.”
Mr. Collins slammed his cane on the ground, glaring hard at Ethan. “Dignity? If he cared about that, he wouldn’t have messed around and landed himself in this mess!”
Patricia gave Ethan a look, signaling him to head upstairs. She was trying to take over.
That just made Mr. Collins angrier and more disappointed. “Overprotective moms ruin sons!” Then he stormed back into the house, saying Ethan had to figure out where he screwed up before he talked to him again.
After getting torn into like that, Ethan was in a foul mood. First thing he did after going back to his room was text Amelia.
Ethan: Did you tell Grandpa something behind my back?
Amelia glanced at her phone and ignored it. Mr. Collins wasn’t wrong–if Ethan kept blaming everyone but himself, he’d never truly see his faults, and he’d never grow up.
“Knock knock-”
She had just returned to her room and managed to relax for a second when another interruption came.
“Amelia, it’s me,” came Sabrina’s voice through the door. She’d tried turning the handle a few times before realizing it was locked.
