Amelia Johnson drove up to the Taylor mansion, and as soon as she pulled in, she spotted Damien Taylor stepping out–looked like he was heading somewhere.
“Hey, Damien, where you off to? Your driver’s already here,” she called out.
Damien walked over quicker and hopped into the car with a grin. “Take me to the old house, would ya?”
Amelia tilted her head playfully. “Sure thing.”
On the drive, Damien asked her why she went back to her family home. Amelia hesitated, then let it out with a faint sigh. “Grandpa Collins has always been super kind to me. I… I can’t help feeling a bit guilty, you know?”
Damien reached over to ruffle her hair gently. “He’s gonna find out sooner or later. It’s not on you.”
At the same time, he shot a message to Evelyn Taylor, letting her know Amelia would be joining them for dinner. So by the time they pulled up outside the old house, Evelyn and Mrs. Dorothy Taylor were already waiting outside with big smiles.
Just then, another car pulled up–Liam Taylor had arrived too. He stepped out, saw how warmly the family welcomed Amelia, and immediately got salty.
“Mom, Grandma, seriously? Don’t forget about your favorite youngest son here!” he shouted.
Evelyn gave him a mild glare. “Youngest son, huh? Better bring home a girlfriend next time or I’ll keep pretending you don’t exist!”
Liam pouted and slunk over to Damien. “Bro, I need an emotional support session.”
Damien patted him on the shoulder. “Want me to set you up with someone?”
Liam backed off fast. “Nah, I’m good. But seriously–about what I asked before? Think Amelia’d let me borrow Black Feather for the upcoming race? I swear I’d snag her a trophy!”
Damien didn’t even blink. “Nope.”
Liam huffed. “Fine, I’ll go ask her myself then!” And with that, he turned and bolted.
When Damien turned back, Amelia was nowhere to be found–and neither was his mom. He figured the two were upstairs having some secret girl talk or something, so he hung back to chat with his grandma in the garden.
Upstairs in one of the rooms, Evelyn pulled Amelia aside with a mysterious smile. “So, honey, the gift I gave you last time–worked like a charm, huh? Men always fall for that kind of thing. And guess what? I got you new styles this time, even better!”
She quickly laid out a few even skimpier pieces of lingerie and handed them to Amelia “A different one every night–keeps things exciting.”
Amelia’s ears turned red instantly. Those barely–there outfits could probably fit in a pocket. “Um, Mrs. Taylor, I… I’m not sure…”

Evelyn chuckled. “Don’t be shy, sweetie. I’ve been there. I get it.”

She went on to share more tips. “They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach–but also through… well, keeping his desires satisfied. Keep both in check, and trust me, he won’t have eyes for anyone else.”
Amelia had to admit–it all kinda made sense… Though she wasn’t confident in her cooking, especially compared to Damien’s skills, and as for the other thing? Well, she hadn’t even let him get that far.
Then Evelyn added, “You know, the one thing Damien’s grandma wants most is to have four generations under one roof. So, Amelia, when do you think she’ll get to hold a great–grandkid?”
Amelia gave an awkward laugh and dodged. “That’s a question for Damien.“How about this–you two get married first? Oh dear, listen to me rushing things! You really should tie the knot before thinking about babies. Tomorrow, I’ll talk to Damien’s grandma and pick a good date,” Evelyn Taylor said eagerly, clearly excited at just the thought of it.
The more she went on, the more Amelia Johnson felt overwhelmed.
Thankfully, Damien Taylor showed up in time like clockwork. “Dinner’s ready. You two must’ve had plenty of girl talk by now, right?”
Evelyn chuckled and teased, “I’d love to call her my daughter–in–law already. But hey, you’ve yet to make it official.” Her tone carried a playful scolding.
“Mom, you’re right. I promise I won’t let you or Grandma down.” Damien wrapped his arm around Amelia and leaned in to whisper near her ear, “Why’s your face all red? What did Mom say to you?”
Thinking about Evelyn’s little ‘relationship advice‘ earlier, Amelia felt like her face was on fire. She couldn’t picture herself and Damien in those kinds of scenarios. Fumbling, she stammered, “N–nothing! We were just chatting, that’s all. Don’t overthink it.”
Damien let out a low chuckle. “Let me guess, something about us? I actually think we should listen to her. She’s been through it all.”
Amelia’s eyes widened. Was he eavesdropping just now?!
Over dinner, Liam Taylor brought up his upcoming race and even casually mentioned someone who wasn’t there. “If Brandon were around, he’d totally come cheer me on.”
Brandon Taylor, their eldest brother, was still overseas recovering from an illness.
Liam then turned to have a very pointed look at Damien and Amelia, clearly trying to say: If you two don’t show up, I’m gonna be bummed out.
Catching on, Damien looked at Amelia, silently asking for her thoughts.
Seeing the scene unfold, both Evelyn and Grandma Dorothy looked delighted–finally, someone who could keep Liam in line!
Amelia nodded. “Sure, I’ll come and cheer you on!”
“Oh! And, um, sis–in–law–can I borrow your Black Feather for the race?” Liam added eagerly, hands pressed together like he was making a wish. “I’ve been dreaming about driving it! Pretty please?”
Amelia couldn’t help but laugh–he was too cute. But she still glanced at Damien first, wanting to know his
opinion.
