Chapter 134 Has anything ever really stumped Damien?-1

Damien Taylor shot a brief, annoyed glance at Jack Mitchell. He was Amelia Johnson’s
boyfriend. Moments like this–Jack acting all concerned about her–really rubbed him the
wrong way. And thinking back to what Zoey Mitchell had said about Amelia possibly liking
Jack? Even if he didn’t buy it, it still got under his skin.
Amelia sat there quietly. If someone close had pulled this stunt, then her suspect list was kinda long. Given what she knew about Sabrina Johnson, though, she figured Sabrina was
the likeliest one. Not only had Sabrina pushed her toward that creep, she’d even egged the
guy on. Honestly, looked like she’d wanted Amelia dead.
Damien reached over and gently ruffled Amelia’s hair, his eyes warm and comforting. “Don’t
stress about it, I’ve got this. Just leave it to me.”
Amelia chuckled, her smile sweet like a kitten’s, and rubbed her soft cheek against his palm.
He couldn’t help but give it a little squeeze and said, “You’re way too cute.”
With her face tilted up, Amelia flashed a sunny grin.
Jack stood nearby, smiling gently, though there was a faint sadness between his brows. He
got the message loud and clear–Damien was telling him to stay out of it. Watching them
being so lovey–dovey? Yeah, that stung a bit.
Quietly, without either of them noticing, Jack left.
It wasn’t until later, after chatting and laughing with Damien for a while, that Amelia realized
Jack was gone. Feeling a little bad, she quickly pulled out her phone to send him a message.
No way was she the type to ditch her friends for a guy.
Damien frowned, noticing she was texting Jack. A bit sour, he said, “So I guess you’re done
talking to me, huh? I’ll head out, then.”
Amelia reacted fast and grabbed his wrist. Damien wasn’t really planning to leave; he just
said it to get a rise out of her. Sure enough, he stayed put.
She blinked her bright eyes and grinned. “I’ve still got loads to say. Like… what are we eating
later? Remember that flyer from yesterday? There’s this new place–it’s legit Italian food.
Maybe I’ll treat you?”

She knew Damien was really into Italian dishes, which was why she’d kept that flyer in the
first place.
