Reborn Second Chance With The Scheming Tycoon novel Chapter 155

Chapter 136 Wait–this weekend?

After being cooped up in the hospital for days, Amelia Johnson hit the beach like a bird

finally let out of its cage. She sprinted barefoot across the sand, wind tugging at her hair,

then spun around to wave at Damien Taylor, laughing out loud.

“Come on, Damien! Catch me if you can!”

Damien smiled faintly, a warm, doting look in his eyes as he broke into an easy jog. His long

legs made catching up a breeze, but he didn’t rush – just stayed behind her, quietly enjoying

the sight of her bright smile and boundless energy.

When Amelia finally stopped, panting and beaming, it felt like all the tension in her chest had

melted away. She took a deep breath of salty sea air.

“Thanks for bringing me here. Seriously, awesome idea.”

“We should totally come again,” Damien said as he bent slightly and scooped her up before

settling the two of them onto a nearby bench. Then, with ridiculous care, he started brushing

the sand off her feet. Her pale little toes made his gaze soften even more.

It was only after a moment that Amelia realized what he was doing. Embarrassed, she

tucked her foot back.

“Wait… are you into feet or something?”

Damien caught her foot again and slipped her shoe back on.

“I like every part of you. So what does that make me?” he said slowly, every word clear as day.

She stared into his dark eyes – deep and intense like obsidian. Her heart skipped several

beats, fluttering all over the place. No matter how many times he said things like that, she

still had no clue how to respond.

But Damien didn’t seem to expect an answer. He simply patted her head and grabbed her

hand.

“Let’s go. Best seafood’s right by the beach.”

At the mention of food, her stomach growled in perfect timing.

By the time they got to the seaside restaurant, the vibes were great.

Buzz. Her phone vibrated on the table just as she’d gone to the restroom. Damien glanced

over casually – and the screen wasn’t locked.

Message from an unnamed number: “Amelia, it’s Little Rain. Long time no see! Wanna grab a

coffee this weekend?”

Little Rain? That sure sounded like a guy.

Damien’s brows pulled together. The tone sounded… way too familiar for his liking.

Soon after, Amelia returned.

“Still no food?” she asked, craning her neck towards the kitchen. “Guess they weren’t kidding

when they said good things take time.”

Damien sipped his coffee, then said casually, “You got a text just now.”

“Really?” She picked up her phone, saw the name, and her whole face lit up as she tapped out

a reply with a smile.

Amelia: “Little Rain! Oh my god, it really has been forever!”

Little Rain: “Yeah, I was recovering abroad for a few years. Feeling way better now, so came

back.”

Amelia: “That’s great news! Let’s meet up this weekend then!”

Little Rain: “I’ll leave the place to you – I’ve kinda lost track of spots around here.”

Instantly, one café popped into her mind – the one Damien had recommended ages ago. She

always went there to sketch or get some writing done. Without hesitation, she picked that

spot.

While Amelia smiled at her phone, fully immersed in the conversation, Damien sat silent –

face darker than a thundercloud.

“I’m going out for a smoke.”

He got up before she could answer.

“Now? The food’s coming like… now,” she said as the waiter rolled out a cart with steaming

seafood dishes.

Damien didn’t say anything, just walked out. And when Amelia didn’t follow, it bugged him
