Chapter 143 She’s totally got an agenda
Ha, I knew it–she’s totally got an agenda. That fox tail finally showed.

Amelia Johnson looked all flustered on the outside, nervously tangling her fingers together.
“But, Aunt Jessica, I… I don’t even know how to say this… It’s about Damien Taylor, you see…”
Jessica Williams held her hand gently, giving it a reassuring pat. “Sweetie, I’ve been around
longer than you. Don’t be shy, just take your time, okay?”
Amelia widened her clear eyes in mock surprise. “But I heard from Aunt Grace that you got
divorced?”
That little jab about her failed marriage made Jessica’s face darken instantly. Curse that
Grace Williams and her big mouth. With a stiff smile, she forced a chuckle. “Heh, well, I’m
older and a bit more experienced. I know what’s smart and what’s not, so I can help you steer
clear of the bad stuff. We don’t wanna upset Damien Taylor, right?”
Amelia pouted slightly, pretending to count on her fingers. “Yeah, true. Aunt Jessica, you’re
like ten–plus years older than me. You’re almost, what, fifty?”
Nothing hits a woman harder than bringing up her age–especially when she’s not exactly a
spring chicken. Jessica’s smile looked like it got stuck halfway. “I’m not even forty yet, thank
you very much. Fifty is a long way off.”
“My bad,” Amelia said, scratching her nose with an innocent look. “Maybe I misheard what
Aunt Grace said.”
Grace again!
Jessica rubbed her temples in frustration. “So, it’s settled then. I’ll help you marry into the
Taylor family and live the comfy life, okay?”
After stringing Jessica along for a bit, Amelia finally gave a sweet nod. “Sure, thanks Aunt
Jessica!”
She thought that would be enough to get her off her back–turns out, not so fast. Jessica
grabbed her again, eyes gleaming. “I heard the Taylors have three sons, right?”
Ah, finally we’re getting to the real reason behind this heart–to–heart.

Amelia nodded, wondering if Jessica was about to ask her to play matchmaker for Rachel
Williams and Liam Taylor. But nope–Jessica went straight for Brandon Taylor.
Amelia’s eyebrow twitched hard. Brandon’s the oldest. If Rachel really ends up with him, that
means Amelia would have to call that airhead “sister–in–law“? Just thinking about it gave her
goosebumps.
No way. Brandon’s way too good for Rachel.
And let’s be real, Liam wouldn’t even give her the time of day.
“Yeah, but I don’t really know Brandon that well,” Amelia said.
“That won’t do!” Jessica said, chuckling. “You gotta socialize more, sweetie. Mark my words
-you guys might be family someday. Don’t worry if you’re not good at handling these things, I got your back. Next time Damien Taylor comes to pick you up, I’ll come meet him too,
sound good?”
Really not in the mood for more of this nonsense, Amelia just nodded along. Sure, let her be
happy for now. She’ll run headfirst into disappointment soon enough.
Once she made it back to her room, Amelia immediately FaceTimed Isla Shaw to vent.
Amelia: Seriously, she’s even scarier than Grace. At least Grace tries to save face sometimes!
Aunt Jessica? She ditched face along with her conscience, liver, and kidneys!
She’s out here dreaming like she’s starring in some wild romcom.
Isla laughed through a voice message, that bright chuckle echoing from her phone. “Poor you, Summer. Once my movie wraps, I’ll come spoil you with comfort. But hey, you’ve got Damien Taylor–shouldn’t that be enough?”
Isla: No reply? Don’t tell me you’re daydreaming about your Mr. Taylor?
Amelia: Nope, absolutely not. I’m busy with other stuff, okay?
Even though she was texting that with a straight face, her cheeks betrayed her–turning a
rosy shade of pink.
Isla: What’s got you so busy, that piano competition or whatever? She remembered Amelia Johnson had always been into piano when they were kids. The most vivid memory was her playing “Kiss The Rain“-it was honestly beautiful. But she never really knew how skilled
