Amelia Johnson handed him the fork, but almost immediately pulled them back and quickly
shut the lid of the food container.
She laughed awkwardly and said, “Uh, I must’ve grabbed the wrong one. Let me make a quick
call–don’t eat it yet!”
Damien Taylor looked at her slender figure as she left, chuckling softly while dialing his
mom.
“Mom,” he sighed, “what was the deal with that breakfast? Were you testing someone on
purpose or what?”
Inside the box were all the foods Damien couldn’t stand.
On the other end, Evelyn Taylor laughed cheerily. “Come on, I just wanted to check how steady your relationship is! If Amelia spotted those weren’t your favorites right away, then
clearly she knows you and cares.”
Damien rubbed his forehead, exasperated. “Mom, seriously? That’s your logic?”
Still, Amelia’s quick reaction made it obvious she knew what he liked. That fact alone lifted
his mood quite a bit.
“Just now she called you ‘Second Master‘ in front of me–how is that a sign of a loving relationship? Don’t try to fool me. No one knows my son like I do,” Evelyn teased.
Damien’s heart twinged at that. It was true–Amelia mostly referred to him as “Second
Master” out of habit.
Seeing her son fall silent, Evelyn gently reassured him. “It’s okay, take it slow. I can tell-
Amelia cares about you more than you think.”
Damien glanced toward the door–Amelia had stepped out a while ago, but still hadn’t come
back.
“Mom, your phone didn’t ring just now, did it?”
“Nope,” Evelyn replied. “Why?”
“Nothing. Gotta go,” he said quickly and hung up.

Worried now, Damien headed out in a hurry and found no sign of her. A quick check with his
assistant told him she had left in a rush.
He called her phone, only to realize she’d left it in the lounge!
Given the intense online harassment Amelia was facing, Damien feared something serious if
she ran into one of those people. They weren’t exactly level–headed.
Just as he was about to send someone out to look for her, Amelia came into view, running
towards him, breathless and flushed from the heat, a new food box in hand.
“Here! It’s still hot–dig in!” she said between breaths, her smile dazzling even as sweat rolled
down her face.
Damien’s heart skipped a beat. Reaching out, he gently wiped her forehead, completely
moved. “Thanks, sweetheart.”
Amelia blushed and turned her face, mumbling, “It’s sweaty…”
“It’s fine,” he said seriously, still wiping her off, then suddenly scooped her into his arms. “You
need to rest for a bit.”
Damien honestly hadn’t expected Amelia would run out just to get him breakfast again.
Opening the box, it was filled with all his favorites. Even though he was getting full halfway
through, he polished off every last bite.
“Tastes great,” he said, completely sincere.
“Really? Are you sure?” Amelia still had doubts–after all, Damien usually dined on gourmet
dishes made by top chefs. This was just simple street food.
He grinned. “Positive. The best part is that you got it for me.”
Her cheeks went even redder. She lightly pushed his shoulder and said, “Don’t you have work?
Go deal with it. I should get going too.”
As much as neither of them wanted to part, Damien walked her downstairs and had the
driver take her home.
In the car, Amelia checked her phone. She thought with Arthur Blake speaking out, the rumors
it’s Amelia?”
