Chapter 166 How shameless

When the focus suddenly shifted her way, Jessica instantly stiffened. Especially when age

got brought up–now that stung.

She forced a smile. “Brother–in–law, here’s the thing. When Amelia first mentioned it to me, I

did hesitate. But then I thought, hey, if we can create something fresh and tasty, why not give

it a shot?”

Amelia nodded earnestly. “Uh–huh. Aunt Jess is just a little too bold sometimes.”

She shot a look at Grace, deliberately meaningful. “That’s why some people always end up

pulling these stunts.”

Grace happened to glance back at her just in time, coolly swept her eyes over, then redirected

her gaze to Sabrina, who’d passed out cold.

To her, nothing mattered more than her daughter.

Jessica’s eyes darkened, a chill settling in.

She never expected it–Amelia, who looked all sweet and harmless like a bunny, turned out to

be throwing subtle shade every time she opened her mouth.

But according to Sabrina, Amelia was just some clueless pushover, easy to manipulate!

Guess she’d better watch out from now on.

Richard rubbed his forehead and waved impatiently. “Alright, enough. Let’s end this here.

Grace, you stay and keep an eye on things.”

After that, Amelia stood up quietly and left.

In the car, Rachel was casually googling what happens when you mix chives and durian, only

to find out that the results weren’t matching what she’d seen before.

That was all Amelia’s handiwork–she’d used her hacker skills upstairs to mess with the

search results.

She even dabbed a peppermint balm on her philtrum to mask the awful combo’s smell.

Otherwise, she might’ve thrown up then and there.

After what happened to Sabrina, Amelia figured Grace and the others would stay low–key for

a while. But no, just a few days later, Grace suddenly invited her out for tea–along with

Sabrina, Jessica, Rachel, and a few of Grace’s friends.

Pretty obvious they were trying to gang up on her.

But it wasn’t her first rodeo. Amelia was already used to these games.

Whatever trick they tried pulling, she was ready.

Honestly, she was curious to see what new move they were gonna make next.

Qing Tea House.

A well–known spot in Heliovard–located right near the Taylor Mansion, typically frequented

by the rich and well–connected.

Let’s be real–Jessica couldn’t afford a place like this.

So…

“Sis, come sit over here,” Sabrina called out sweetly, waving at Amelia.

Her smile had that fake–nice edge to it.

Amelia, who’d zoned out for a sec, realized she was the only one still standing.

She went over and sat next to Sabrina, all the while silently eyeing Jessica.

But Jessica didn’t act strange at all. She seemed just as easygoing and friendly as usual,

even making sure to take everyone’s preferences into account while ordering.

Grace’s friends, though, were all sizing up Amelia.

Their eyes, full of judgment or barely veiled sneers, clearly set on tearing her down.

Right on cue–as soon as the tea was served–a woman in a red dress sitting across from Amelia, Mrs. Chen, piped up with a mocking tone. “Amelia, this is top–grade oolong. Make

sure you savor it–it’s not something you’d find out in the countryside.”

Once someone took the lead, the rest followed.

“These snacks are the tea house’s specialties, too,” another chimed in. “You won’t find these

anywhere else. Definitely not in the countryside. Bet it’s all brand–new to you, huh?““Mrs. Johnson really sets the standard for stepmoms–treats Amelia like her own daughter and

even brought us to this fancy tea house. Gotta hand it to her.”

Grace Williams quickly avoided taking credit and even threw in a rare compliment, “Amelia’s

always been such a thoughtful girl. She invited us out today.”

“Thanks, sis!” Sabrina Johnson jumped on the cue.

Rachel Williams looked a bit caught off guard but chimed in right after, “Thanks, Cousin

Amelia!”
