Amelia lowered her eyes and shook her head. She couldn’t tell Evelyn the truth–didn’t want to

scare her. “I’m not feeling very well.”

“If you’re not feeling well, go lie down. I’ll call a doctor for you,” Evelyn said as she turned to

leave.

Amelia glanced at the clock. It had been sixteen hours already.

She couldn’t just sit around waiting anymore.

Just as she was about to head out herself, her phone rang–Brandon was calling. “Amelia, I’ve reached Damien. He’s okay. Don’t worry.”

“For real?” Amelia asked several times, disbelief giving way to relief.

“What about that Jack guy? What’s the story there?”

“He really was shady. But we’ve got him now.”

Amelia wanted to ask if she could talk to Damien–just hearing his voice would ease her

heart–but in the end, she decided not to disturb him. Knowing he was okay was enough.

After having dinner at the Taylors‘, Amelia left.

She still hadn’t finished preparing the gift she got for Damien.

But on the way back to the Taylor Mansion, Amelia’s mind wandered. That nightmare kept

replaying in her head like a broken record–it felt way too real.

Someone had been screaming Damien’s name in the middle of the explosion…

Collins. Why were they here?

“Why so shocked, sis? Ethan wants to buy a villa here at Taylor, so we came to check it out,”
