Chapter 197 Go to the bar
Originally, Sabrina thought she’d get to watch Amelia get chewed out big time. But surprise,
surprise–Amelia wasn’t scolded at all, and actually walked away with a bunch of pocket
money!
Meanwhile, Sabrina could barely squeeze a thousand out of anyone. So pissed off, she ran to
complain to Grace.
“Mom, how am I supposed to hang out with Ethan if I’ve got no money?”
Grace still remembered how Richard slapped her that one time and didn’t dare stir up trouble
again so soon.
“You need money now?”
“Duh, of course! Mom, you always find a way, don’t you?” Sabrina looked at her expectantly.
Grace frowned in thought. Yeah, asking Richard for money out of nowhere was a no–go.
Off to the side, Sabrina kept mumbling, “Ethan’s into those Iron Man figures… I was thinking if
I buy it for him, he’ll love me more and then maybe we can get married…”
Grace was about to snap at her to shut up when a lightbulb went off in her head.
Bingo! She had an idea–and a brilliant one too!
She wasted no time, heading downstairs to grab her phone.
At the same time, Amelia came downstairs with her laundry and just so happened to
overhear Grace chatting excitedly with Patricia on the phone in the living room.
Amelia didn’t care for eavesdropping, so she just walked away.
Then the next day, boom–Sabrina suddenly posted on her Moments that she and Ethan were
getting engaged.
Comments and likes? Barely any.
Not even a peep from Zoey.
And Ethan? His Moments were suspiciously quiet. Anyone with a brain could piece that
together.

Clare
Later, Amelia heard from Emily that Mr. Collins absolutely did not approve of the
engagement. He was so mad, he nearly had a stroke and had to be taken to the hospital.
Still, it didn’t stop Grace and Patricia from moving forward. What their plan was exactly, no
one really knew.
“If you ask me, maybe she’s just trying to trap him with a kid–like, ‘Oops, guess we gotta get
married now,” Emily joked.
Amelia raised an eyebrow. When she saw Sabrina yesterday, the girl showed zero signs of
being pregnant.
She was bouncing around in stilettos like nothing was different.
“Anyway, not my circus, not my monkeys. I’ve got stuff to finish,” Amelia said, referring to the
novel she was writing.
And she had to stay on schedule–lately, Damien had been reading her updates religiously.
She couldn’t let him log on and be disappointed with no new chapters.
But then Sabrina had to call to show off.
“Hey sis, I’m so sorry, I didn’t expect Ethan to propose all of a sudden last night. It was such a
beautiful setup–so many people were there. He got me 999 red roses! So I just… well, you
get it, right? I…”
Listening to that syrupy voice, Amelia rolled her eyes hard.
She sighed, “Sabrina, if you’re not into marrying him, I can always talk to Dad and Grandpa
Collins about it.”
“No, no!” Sabrina freaked out.
“What’s wrong? You sounded like you weren’t too happy about it,” Amelia teased, smirking as
she tapped on speaker mode so Emily could hear too.
Emily, enjoying the show, mouthed what to say next like she was feeding lines backstage.
Amelia followed her lead, hitting all the right buttons to drive Sabrina up the wall.
“It’s not like that, sis, I…I just don’t want to make you feel bad…”
“If my feelings matter that much, then are you gonna call the whole engagement off?”
